How do you close and exit the web browser on a Samsung Galaxy Apollo?

Bad idea, Android will simply think the program has crashed and restart it in the background. When you use a task manager to kill apps all you do is cause problems with how the OS handles memory, avoid them.
Not happening with My Samsung Galaxy S nothing runs in the background once killed and never a problem .

Unless you have a magic version of Android OS, it is restarting services in the background, you might not see the apps but the services will be running.0 -
I have to agree with cgk1, task killers are bad for android, a quick google search will find loads of articles why, here are some
http://lifehacker.com/5650894/android-task-killers-explained-what-they-do-and-why-you-shouldnt-use-them
http://androidspin.com/2010/05/25/why-you-dont-need-a-task-killer-app-with-android/
and this one is why the apps instantly start back up after being killed http://androinica.com/2010/08/09/froyo-update-kills-android-task-killer-apps/
in it's most basic explanation multitasking works like in iOS as in apps are 'held in suspention' (apart from when they actually are required to run eg skype for incoming calls), having your RAM full in android is no bad thing, it's only when the CPU gets full you should uninstall the offending apps as they are likely poorly coded0 -
Opinions thats all .
Odd that a Task manager is derided and lo and behold Google add one to Gingerbread to manually kill applications even go so far at to put it on the home screen .

OK so to reassure me,
1. all these apps running in background are not negatively impacting battery or available resources
2. Web Browser running continuously does not mean I am being charged as if I was online (as a matter of interest how is this done, the not charging I mean)
3. to run web browser at a decent speed, you need 3g enabled, if running continuously surely this is impacting the battery on its own?0 -

1. no esp not the stock apps
2. how web browsing works is you download the website to your phone/pc which displayes the web page, there is no data transfer at any other time unless you refresh the page or click a link to go to another website.
3. 3G is only a type of data speed, your phone can be connected to a 3G network but not be sending data, only when you are sending data will battery be significantly used. (3G is being used when the 3G symbol lights up)
you can use the android power control widget to turn on and off certain function of the phone, I would add that to one of your homescreens and then turn on functions when you need them.
for the browser when you exit/press the home button there will be no more data used, when you next open it it may refresh the page you were on that would use data, (also data is always sent over wifi over 3G or 2G so if you are connected to wifi there is nothing to worry about 3G).
also is there no way in settings to close the page you are on? (perhaps under menu> more options or long press on the web page)
therefore next time you open the browser it would display a blank page (like on iOS devices)0 -
Dolphin browser from the market has an X for closing .
Smartphones are generally always on for Mobile data unless you actively turn them off .Is the Appollo a smartphone ?
My Android with background sync turned on and Mobile data not turned off is active and chargeable 24 hours a day .
Use Quick Settings to turn off Mobile data except when required as most of my connections are WiFi .
