all the space on C is used, it varies from minute to minute from 0kb to 2.51mb, every time i check its different...
Two years old for a laptop isn't bad. But that amount of storage space is frighteningly low. Yes, it will fluctuate, depending on temp files and the such like.

There's a lot of things that can cause this and generally they will be simply to fix (for someone comfortable with these things).

I actually clean up and speed up laptops, so if you're in the South East let me know and I'll be able to help you out.

    - I agree with googler, don't go reformatting your PC at the moment. It's possible it will need it, but you should only do so with clear advice/instructions. It's possible that page files are too high, but I suspect you wouldn't have altered the settings so I won't go down that path.

How large is the C: Drive in GB? If you right-click on the C: Drive and select Properties, it should tell you.

I'm far from an expert but I see Trusteer Rapport in that log. It has been known to cause chaos. Try shutting it down for now.
    To stop Rapport on Windows:
Click Start -> All Programs -> Trusteer Rapport -> Stop Rapport.

C drive is 30gb and D drive is 80gb 40gb is free on D drive and nothing on C drive...

    windirstat...

    windows takes up 64%

subfolder is winsxs which is 60% of my space

includes loads of folders that are 0.1 or 0.0%

    x86_microsoft_windows_naturallanguage631bf38s............none........

theres 7 which are 2.1% of the space each and there are loads and loads of ther folders like this but which take up the 0.1% or 0.0% space...

so i know where my space has gone...kind of?

Move as much stuff as possible from C: to D:
Music and videos mainly if you can find any.

Through control panel, add/remove programmes, remove !!! many 'useless' programmes as you can. Stuff you reocognise as junk you might have downloaded over time. Try to end up with a gig or so free on c:
Then follow Malware advice you've been given.
Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc

    Hi

I don't have any music or photos eyc on my c drive, all on d drive and have deleted many useful programs such as acrobat reader and winrar to create space but these actions didn't create any space.

move your page file to d

    run vsp1cln and compcln

set ccleaner to run at boot.

If you want a long term solution, copy all your data to an external drive, make a second backup of really important data to dvd, reinstall windows from the recovery partition, delete the partition which has all the data on it now, and extend the c drive to use up the whole of the area currently being used by c and d, then copy your data back from the external hard disk to the new bigger c drive

If you want to be extra careful, backup the whole hard disk, all partitions to external hard disk using disk imaging software before you start, macrium reflect free, maxblast etc.
