I'm running the MP101 wirelessly in another room.
I was using the Netgear server and it worked absolutely fine.
Installed the MSS server and seemed ok, installed open mss 2.6.2 rc2 and it seemed to hang.
Installed Twonky and some of the tracks aren't shown on the server, they are there in iTunes and are there and play on the MSS.
When I say some of the tracks, I mean half albumns are missing e.g. Killers, only last 5 tracks showing despite being loaded from the original CD.
Just been downstairs and checked and the MP101 barely works now - the tracks don't even start now - the title appears, it hangs then moves onto the next track, it doesn't actually play any music at all now.
What's going on???0 -
this should be moved to tech support now0

Burton Road Branch? Not a sealed box, looks very tatty and would think it's been returned so you could push them for 10-15% discount0 -
Extremely useful device but errr very confused about the following,
This twonky media server works great with the xbox 360 but what happens after the 30 day trial ends ? will the server stop running at that time or does it keep going as for what i use it for which is just mp3's it costs too much ?
Are there alternatives to twonky as all i want to do is share my songs so the xbox can view them which it wont with the default media server.
My other question is how do you access the drive directly so i can view all of its contents including the twonky files incase i wanted to remove them ?
i.e. this files doesnt exists in the shared folders on my network,
Configuration file at: /shares/mss-hdd/__twonkyvision/twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini
And how do you get a list of processes that the drive is running i.e. twonky just seems to start on its own so i know the drive isnt being swamped by 10 twonkys etc ><.
If i ever wanted to format the drive is that possible ?
I looked at that openmss site which to me is a site from hell cant seem to find anything for dummies.
Thanks alot.

Such a shame the media server that comes with it doesnt work with the 360 unless you use twonky.
I updated the firmware to the latest version before i tried openmss and i noticed upload and download speeds increased alot so it might be worth updating it to the latest official release if you feel its slow.0 -

If you're only interested in music then the licence for twonky music [as opposed to 'media'] is €10 cheaper!
At the end of the day it would be a shame to have a big NAS but a rubbish media server, so you may as well do things properly  especially since the NAS was such a bargain in the first place! you can use your licence for 3 devices, and get a years worth of upgrades. They have an active bug tracking system which seems to work. Going from mediabolic to the twonky server i saw a massive increase in responsiveness [though I've noticed it doesn't recognise all of my media, strangely] shoutcast etc is an added bonus!
Overall, I think when my trial month is up i'll plump for twonky.0 -
I would really like to buy one of these but unfortunately staples don't seem to have any left at least not anywhere near me,
if any of you have one that you don't want or want to sell please can you let me knowThanks
