Day 13 - where did that go?
Doing ok - still havent got my head around the fact that I don't smoke. Its weird. I was on the laptop last night and thought right I'll just do this and then I'll have a fag and then I thought no I won't I dont smoke.
But for most of the time I don't think about it at all.
Tonight is the last of my week 2 couch to 5 k and my knees are starting to give me a bit of grief but I am assured that because I am extremely unsporty it is my body becoming fit and building up cartilege and muscle. We shall see.
Everyone is doing soooooooo well it's amazing how when you have your 'eureka' moment there is no going back. There is a right time for everyone.
Good luck today everyone - we can do it! xSmoke Free since 1 January 20130 -
Very well done, KB and by now it's quite posibly 3 Days which is tremendous!!! You're doing so very well on putting your mind to doing other things as soon as you're reminded of times that 'used to be'. We get asked all sorts of things about unusual experiences after folk give up, who knows, maybe yours is because your body simply wants/needs to flush the toxins out quickly. If so, amazing! Keep hard at it and remain focused and....strong!!

Oh Ali, that was so good in resisting all temptations whilst watching someone else smoke, it shows how strong and commited you are which is great!!! Very well done with (what is now) 21 Days smoke-free!!!! :T You're starting to get the life back that you deserve, Ali who could want more than that! :j
Well done with Holly's jumper! She can't wait to wear it ...hence the yaking it off! What have you planned to make next? If you've eough wool, how about a size larger. Strengthen your reserve for tonight, Ali, as you say, you are the one who's responsible, but to help you more cut back on the alcohol intake as that's responsible for a lot of downfalls. Enjoy yourself as you deserve that, just don't allow alcohol to ruin it.
Keep focused on your little one and how healthy her Mum now is!

Hello gizmo and a warm welcome aboard! Don't worry about the unsuccessful ciggy, that was a bit of a wake-up call, just remember not to succumb again. Keep in mind that you're NOT giving anything up, instead you're gaining so much from now on by saying cheerio to something that's nothing short of a horrible friend. Kick it right out of your life, it's evil, smelly and dangerous. Never allow your body to become it's victim again - you're too good for that!
We've had one or two successful quitters with hypnosis so now lets get ready for No 3 with you! Wash as many things as possible, like the curtains, as the cleaned you and the house become...the better you'll like it. Just one other word for now - please don't ever allow anyone else to smoke indoors - "sorry, I no longer smoke so you'll need to go outside for that, thank you" then usher to the door and shut it firmly! Don't worry about the blizzards!
All best wishes and see you here as often as you wish.

Oh Voyager, I dearly hope he's almost seen the light, especially given that he's already got COPD. Remember (as if you couldn't, sorry)....not a word as it has to be his decision!
Very many congratulationsto YOU on having such huge committment and having got all the way to 8 months without smoking!!! :T:T:T That's HUGE Voyager, be hugely PROUD of your accomplishment!!!! :j

Hi again warez! Look how far you've come!!!! A little while ago it was a whole different you who was talking about fags here then. You're almost at the 2 week mark  and having achieved 13 days so far - purely on CT - which, to my mind, along with anything else non NRT related, is the best!!!!!Great news on reaching 13 brilliant days, warez, you're doing marvellously!!! :T:T
So, what happens after the 5K has been reached? Is it on to a higher amount of Ks or what? Be gentle with those knees but be soooo proud on all your great achievements!!!!
Sue xx
Wherever you are with quitting folks, keep right on praising yourseles and thrilled at how your health is gaining momentume....pockets too, but ALWAYS put the emphasis on health first as you can't buy that!!!

Many congratulations, Ali!!!! :T:T:T You are doing tremendously and I'm absolutely thrilled at how well you've been throughout it all. You've barely said anything and have handled it in an amazing manner.
I reckon you've found an excellent and very relaxing hobby in knitting. I'm so proud of and for you! Enjoy this evening, Ali and just be aware.
Your little Holly will be right proud of her Mum when she's able to understand how huge quitting smoking is. Onward from here Ali and.....well done again! :j

Thank you for your kind words Sue.
The couch to 5k program is supposed to get you up to 5k in 9 weeks (yeah right), after that I aim to do 5k three times a week.
It was hard tonight but it is fab for getting my lungs going and also seeing how calm they are now compared to what they would have been had I still been a smoker.
Anyway, catch up soon everybody and good luck my nicotine free friends xSmoke Free since 1 January 20130 -
Hello
Well done everyoneIs it ok to post if I have fallen off
I made it through yesterday and today but decided that it is Friday evening and I am going to smoke so I did
I'm giving myself leeway for the weekend but have decided I won't in the daytime and will in the evenings this weekend if I want to, however being in the job I'm in where there is a strict no smoking policy I WON'T be smoking at all in the week - not even in the evenings when I get home
I think I am just stupidly testing myself even though I knew it was probably silly to, I didn't even find today that hard to be honest! I am calling myself a weekend smoker but to be honest I think if I get through next week without smoking I don't think I will be smoking next weekend, if I do it will probably be less than this weekend and even less the weekend after if any at all
I know this seems a negative post but I am sort of pleased of the small progress I did make :undecided

I think its absolutely fine to do that - I would love to get to the stage where I only smoke on holiday - my FIL does that just 2 weeks a year in Spain and xmas day. I just know that if I did that then I would be back on 20 a day.
Yesterday so great again very tempted to smoke and again lit one, then crunched up and binned the fags I had left. Has been easier today as I have none in house so can't have tha silly chat with myself about just one drag!
So today is 7 days without a cig except the two blips mentioned - best I've ever managed. Got a raging thirst all tehtime though and am drinking twice as much as normal (non-alcohol!)Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Sue you mentioned there had been a few succesful quits with hypnotherapy so I thought I'd pop in for a quick update. I posted very early in my quit and have been an avid daily reader since. Am at week 10 :j and on the middle strength patch. Had hypnotherapy ses sion on quit dayand just one more about 4 weeks in.
Have tried and failed many times before and this is my longest quit so far. The psycological cravings have been quite strong, driving me crazy at times, but am moving now to mindset of not missing fags because how can you miss something you don't really want! If that makes any sense.
Hypnotherapy was a really positive experience for me and has helped me to quit successfully so would recomend it.
Good luck to you all, your stories are so inspiring. Finally debt free - August 2010
Thankyou Payplan and DFW forum. Total debt repaid: £24,453. Still debt free and planning to stay that way!:j0 -
