We are having navy blue with ivory. The navy is one of the colours in my H2B's tartan so it seemed a good colour to pick. However if you want flowers in the matching colour do your research beforehand as navy blue flowers are quite rare (either fake or dyed)!

You could always get some silk flowers in navy mixed in with natural blooms, and/or get the flowers tied with navy ribbons.
  • I'm having trouble finding flowers to match my baby blue colour scheme....they are either too dark or too light.

We are having a mix of blues and ivory, flowers are felt so no worry there about finding something to match :)
Including a few shades of blue made it easy for bridesmaid dresses because we went out and i said get whatever you both like so long as its blue and they choose maxi dresses which graduate from bright blue to very dark blue so fits perfectly!

  • we are having cadburys purple,
this is my dress - (mine is under the burgundy and crimson ones)

my adult bridesmaids are in cadburys purple satin maxi dresses and my child BMs will be in cute ivory dresses with a matching purple sash,

I have been picking up lots of purple bits in the sales to decorate our venue and i have lots of ribbon to pull everything into the colour scheme
  • My sisters had turquoise, ivory and silver (because the wedding was in a hotel overlooking a beach in Cornwall) and chocolate brown, gold and cream (December wedding at a country hotel but didn't want Christmassy colours).

    Things that might help:

Your/OH's favourite colours (possibly his football/rugby team's colours?)
Venue colours or any features you want to play up - I remember reading about a wedding where the colour scheme was yellow and black because the venue had a bee mosaic in the floor
Location of the wedding - beach? Country?
Time of year when the wedding is taking place
    Colours that suit your bridesmaids
If you're having a theme and any colours that might go with it

  • We are having green and pink. Pink is my fave colour and OH is Irish so we had to have some green (and apparently it isnt bad luck if one of your is of Irish descent!)

We were going to have dusky pink and sage green but I was worried about having to match everything exactly so we dcided to go for any greens and any pinks - should be colourful!

Good advice, that! I'd also add to look at what flowers will be in season on your wedding day, as they will be easier and cheaper to get hold of if you're having fresh flowers, and you can build your colour scheme around that.

I'm not worried about what is in either, just makes it easier when picking bm dresses etc!!

I have thought about sage green. Is that what your bm are wearing? Have you got their dresses?

Hi... Yes BM's are all wearing this colour...the dresses are Forever Yours range from bridal shop, so not sure how easy it would have been to find on high street, but have younger BM's as well as older so I would have had trouble any other way, the colour that I class as sage is called Olive in their range... they may have pink bouquets, with choc brown satin around them...Hmmmm decisions decisions :D

We chose Cadbury's purple and two things helped us decide between that and blue/ teal/ turquoise/ lilac shades which we also liked...
One was advice from the florist about which colours of flowers are more available in Winter (our wedding is this month) - apparently blue can be tricky.
The second decider was when I went with Bridesmaid Number One to the shops and we found lots of lovely purple dresses to choose from!

The purple will be on bridesmaid dresses, groom & best man's ties, bouquets, centre-pieces, tealight holders around the venue, sashes on the chairs...
