Many thanks for your reply - what make and model of Inverter do you have? My garage is detached and it would be difficult to connect from garage to the roof panels, otherwise I would do the same.0 -
Its a Kaco 4020. Been in 2 and 1/2 weeks0

Eh? Wrong forum I think?0

The whole purpose of installing Solar PV is to reduce your grid electricity consumption.
I would have thought the the main purpose was get FITs.
When you install in winter when the panels are generating little electricity it wouldn't be immediately apparant, unless you monitor carefully your consumption.0 -

The inverter is placed as close to the panels as possible to reduce the losses in the DC cables.
Also, I have never fitted your model of inverter, so am unfamiliar with it, but it does appear to be too noisy. Out of all the inverters I have fitted (Schuco, SMA, Sunny Boy, Fronious), I have only had one produce a significant level of noise and Fronious immediately provided a replacement under warranty.Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!0 -
You are probably unlucky, but Don't let them fob you off, tell them to sort it out - just because others haven't made any noise doesn't mean that they can't. Have they been out to check what you are saying. Ours is in the loft space directly above our bed, and doesn't make any noise. You have paid a lot of money for your system, and it should be as you want it.
Ours is in our loft, but its going to be moved as the loft is tiny, and is like a sauna in this weather. I was bothered about it overheating, although it has a fan in, so Evo have agreed to move it for us. I do not want, in 5 years time, to buy a new invertor because it has had its life shortened by overheating.0 -
Evo told me the extra run of cable to the garage would amount to a loss per annum of pence rather than pounds.0

Not if you have a "rent-a-roof" system installed as you don't get them.
However the 'Rent a roof' systems don't have a generation meter fitted - so even more difficult to determine what is happening.
Admittedly if they are the type of person to have carefully monitored their daily consumption before and after installation they will suspect something funny is going on, but it is getting the 'rent a roof' firm to investigate will be the problem - look at the response of ASG(one of the better firms -allegedly) who apparently have known about a potential problem for many months.0 -
