Hello GirlSunday
...and thanks...as for plastering, I helped my dad put up some plasterboards, and did some correction work on the framing , but I wasn't overly keen on the plastering! He didn't mind it, said its like anything, if you don't do it all the time your never going to get it perfect. We've seen some work 'professionals' have done - no offence, but sometimes there's not much difference. Good luck, maybe theres a night class (short course) at a community college near you, to give you a taster/foundation in it
.
millionaire in training, maybe you can keep your eyes peeled at car boots and charity shops for cheap wool. My wife's seen some in different places often, when she's 'scavenging' for things to play with herself. I hope that helps...It's a pity there's no craft fairs near you, but are there any farmers markets near you, that take local produce???
Night night everyone, hope you've all had a good day...😇 Sealed Pot Challenge: Member No: 20: 2012 = £92.14; 2013 = £45.27; 2014 = £54.70; 2015 = ; 2016 = £70.38 2022 = £10.58 2023 = ???? 🍀 2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD 65/365 so far. 👾 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 🍀 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 20120 -
I'll post now while I have a chance
. Right, still hung up on ideas for the electricity so far - so were busy tackling/ experimenting with the way we approach laundry. We found Soapnuts on the internet @ 4.90 a bag, it does approximately 150+ washes - which works out at roughly 3p a wash:T.
The A**a liquid laundry wash we normally get, is 2 bottles for £6 (28 washes per bottle) 600/56= roughly 10p per wash:mad:.
Thats nothing to be sniffed at: over a 1,000 washes they would roughly cost, Soapnuts= £30.00 (1000 * 3p), A**a liquid= £107.14 (exact nth degree calculation). I nearly had an accident in my pants when I saw the difference, £77.14 over the 1,000 washes:rotfl:!!!
The soapnuts have been doing the laundry fine so far, we've stuck a little essential oil for fragrance(as the soapnuts don't fragrance them). It's cleaning the clothes well considering our two attract muck and stuff to their clothes like nobody's business (they're both tomgirls:D).
We've also got some airers and are using them, I'm making a conscious effort not to use the dryer:rotfl: and its real hard, because I know it's there:rotfl:....
Hope your all having a good MSE day :T.😇 Sealed Pot Challenge: Member No: 20: 2012 = £92.14; 2013 = £45.27; 2014 = £54.70; 2015 = ; 2016 = £70.38 2022 = £10.58 2023 = ???? 🍀 2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD 65/365 so far. 👾 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 🍀 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 20120 -
Your doing great by the sound of it Nu1isit. Re the electricity, do you have one of the gizzmos the electricity companies were giving away. It allows you to check which items use the most electricity. It was a real eye opener for us. Even got the kids involved. Turned into a bit of a game when it spikes too high, tracking down the culprit .
MIT, re the wool I have tons in my stash that I bought on ebay over the years. Another contribution to our spiralling debt but hey, dealing with it now. You can get some good deals at the moment on end of lines, especially arran as the shops will soon be stocking summer weight. Heaven knows why. Also check out Freecycle, you can sometimes get lucky. Charity shops sometimes get handknits which can be unpicked as well.
Off to finish the wrap I started last week as dont want to turn the heating up just cause we have doors that dont close properly and make the bread rolls for tea. No MrT shop for this girl0 -

Ahhhh, I'll have to have a look into that dizzypink, thanks very much. The majority of the things we're doing for the electric usage are 'the usuals'. I'm sure there's something else we can do - but it'll come to me 2.30 a.m. next Wednesday morning :rotfl:.
I don't think I can create a solar panel, using glass, blu tack, silver foil etc., and stick it on my roof - for one my landlord wouldn't be to pleased :rotfl:. And I'm sure a health and safety man would have to check it anyway, I imagine this would be his reaction .

Completed the sealed pot challenge for today
...found £1.57 of English sterling today....the wife found the pound coin and held it aloft like a gold bullion bar in the street :rotfl:.
Pretty pleased so far, just hope we can keep finding money :T.
We've aquired a hoover that's supposedly broken, but on first try it seems to 'pick up':j; going to have a proper look at it tomorrow.
Hasn't been too bad a day today. Hope you all have a good one tomorrow....:)😇 Sealed Pot Challenge: Member No: 20: 2012 = £92.14; 2013 = £45.27; 2014 = £54.70; 2015 = ; 2016 = £70.38 2022 = £10.58 2023 = ???? 🍀 2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD 65/365 so far. 👾 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 🍀 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 20120 -
I am sensing you are a blue peter badge holder.0

I am sensing you are a blue peter badge holder.
Eeeeee dizzypink, that's not sarcasm is it?:rotfl:
Unfortunately I never got a blue peter badge, Tony Hart never even showed my pictures in his special art gallery (big ahhhhh everyone
). I was denied two great milestones in my childhood (boo hoo):rotfl:.
Anyway, we cleaned out a few of the filters and hoses (on the vacuum) and it seems fine. Hurrah.
I've got another project now...the dvd player has decided to start being moody, and decides when it wants to work . A new dvd player from A**a, or somewhere else will cost approximately £30 (the other way choice). I bought a cheap desktop pc from a market - for only £10, and it seems to power up etc. I'm going to see if I can get it up and running (spending as little as possible, under £10 ideally). This is going to be the MSE way coice, in case your wondering. I'm thinking about trying this, as it has a dvd drive etc. already fitted. I've read, and researched about Linux Mint, and Open Office, and host of other open source software. So i'm going to give it a try, I'll keep you posted how it goes this weekend. Thankfully for you all, you won't have to listen to me go, "for god's sake", maybe fifty times or more :rotfl::D
:rotfl:.
Hope you've all had a good day today, and hope you have a better MSE day tomorrow.😇 Sealed Pot Challenge: Member No: 20: 2012 = £92.14; 2013 = £45.27; 2014 = £54.70; 2015 = ; 2016 = £70.38 2022 = £10.58 2023 = ???? 🍀 2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD 65/365 so far. 👾 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 🍀 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 20120 -
