We are the other way in that I'm the breadwinner and dh stays home (although don't earn as much as your husband), about a third of our 'left over money' (after bills) gets transferred to his account (I tend to do the main food shop otherwise that would go over as well)0

It amazes me when couples don't share their money.0

our money is in a joint account. Apart from bills, mortgage, holiday money etc we each take a sum of money monthly. In our case its £300 each. This can vary and every so often we have a month where we don't take own money if we find we need it for something else. I tend to not use all of my money and stick a lot into savings(joint) but thats my choice.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

I am always so surprised by the way some people view finances ina marriage, especially a marriagw where one is a sahp, with young children!
The way we work our finances is that we draw up a budget for each month, with all our outgoings, all our earnings from employment, child benefit and tax credits go in, everything gets paid and whatevers leftover is spent on family treats or things we need, clothes, shoes etc..!
All this seperate money, and his/hers spends, seems very alien to me, and not the ideal makings of a partnership! I would be seriously embarrassed and even offended to have to ask my husband for money!0 -
Thank you to those of you who have responded without making judgements or negative comments, it's much appreciated.
I have spoken to him this evening which was fine and we have agreed that as of payday this month he will transfer a set amount into my account that will include the food shopping money that he was previously paying seperately and an amount that I can budget out for the month to spend how I want which I'm happy with.
thanks again0 -

I am pleased you have sorted something out which you are happy with. Do have to say however that I still do not understand why his salary is not going into a joint account as it is your money as well but understand that you are happy with the outcome so good luck.0
