Hello all

very busy with the post xmas clean up here.

But I just have to blow my own trumpet -

For a long time now my PC has been making a dreadful noise which my computer/IT geek/elctronics genius BIL diagnosed as an overheating fan (I think - he said the fan was definitely dirty and shouldn't be making the noise it was). He told me I needed to strip it down and clean it.
So I didn't.
Anyhoo, this morning I had to phone county IT support and the bloke there (clearly also a geek) asked if the noise he could hear OVER THE PHONE was the PC. I shamefacedly admitted it was and he said the same as BiL.

So I got my cheapie compressed air out and have stripped it down and removed a ton of dust.

And put it back together.

And it works.

(phew!)

and I have now renamed my PC

SILENT RUNNING.

Go me! - I am SO proud of myself.

Good isn't it, this learning lark, go girl go :T:T:T

Anyone have any thoughts on keeping old diaries?

I don't use a diary, just put everything on a calendar, but I tend to keep last year's until the end of this year (will keep 2010 until I start 2012) so that if I need to look back and see when I went to the dentist or something I can check up on it.

If you write a proper diary then, yes, I would keep it. You might find it fascinating in the future.

Quick Question for some advice please - how do you clean an oven????

Yes. OK. I am 36yo and never cleaned one.........

The oven I have apparently has a self cleaning function but I am not sure how to use that?? I guess it would stink and its too cold to open the windows. Its a newish oven and only 12 months old. The really annoying bit will be the windows on the front as the "double glazed bit" in the centre is hollow and has some spills down it.

What product could I use??

1) Compressed Air is available on eB@y in aerosol type cans, or from some office supplier type shops.

2) Open one of the large sides of the PC, (if you look at the back of the machine it's not the side near all the plug in bits).

Have fun and if you think you can't or shouldn't then don't. ;)

Tree cut up

Need to declutter this headache and get dinner cooking.

Last thing to do is take the Christmas cards down. DH can do the lights later and put it all back up in the loft.

I keep mine forever.. I have kept a daily diary (my life) since I was about 10.. I do all my budgetting, christmas presents, loony lists in mine. I have a box I keep them all in in order though the last 2 years I keep in my bedside drawer. I needed mine to prove payments on a loan over 3 years ago recently so I'd never get rid of them..

Bearing in mind how often the words 'fling' and 'bin-bag' appear in your posts that is the ultimate seal of approval on storing old diaries :rotfl:
