Cats, you would ''feel much more fulfilled and satisfied with a home cooked meal rather than a delicious and huge portion of Chinese''.
Why not cook something and then overpay a fiver? Yeah!!0 -
Thanks remote. I just needed to hear it from someone other than my conscience!
Overpaying a bit as well sounds a good idea!0 -
I must confess to getting a take away today. The thrill of trying to survive on bits and bobs in the cupboard etc ran out this evening. I don't regret it yet but no doubt I will at some point soon. There is enough food to have tomorrow's meal covered. Does that help??0

I'm sure it does help. I'm trying to run down cupboards/freezer ready to move next month so having some interesting concoctions!
How are the cats surviving? Have they managed to lower their standards?
Mine luckily refuses anything but dry food and rainwater but that's what you get from a chat de grange (French barn cat). He's just grateful for anything he hasn't had to catch himself!

HI poppyoscar!
Cats are doing fine. I haven;t actually changed their diet at all.
One of them is on a special diet anyway...
However, having said that, they aren't getting masses of cooked chicken anymore - I'm saving it for me and freezing it!
They don't seem bothered!
I've been very focused on this as I forgot about it during the summer. Am hoping to be more focused next year and have set subscriptions for some threads so that I keep getting messages in my inbox. That should help me not to forget!!
Thanks for posting on my diary!0 -
Well. In the space of a week, my house alarm has broken down, my fridge has broken down and my top oven has died.
Would you believe it!?
I have some savings put aside for the house, but depending on what needs to happen with each of these, I may not have enough.
It will mean eating into next months OPs and I'm gutted.0 -
I've just applied to switch mortgage when my current HSBC rate ends in Feb. It was so easy - am staying with HSBC. Just did a few bits online and done! No fees either. I'm not mortgage free, but the deal I've got means I'll be paying less than I was expecting so I can OP a bit more than I expected too!:D0

That sounds like a good day's work to me :T (promise not to order a takeaway to celebrate )0 -

Hello Cats,
Good luck with your MF venture. I'm just starting to look at this myself.
I also have an HSBC mortgage and, for a while, I wasn't able to pay more than 5% on top of my normal payments without incurring early repayment fees. Have you checked how much you can overpay them or are you still paying into the regular savings account instead?
I'm sure you've probably got this covered but I'd hate to have kept quiet and found you were overpaying straight into the mortgage and then finding an unexpected charge.0
