Paid off £20 today! It's all I can manage this month, but I wanted to start! Not even a chest infection has stopped me ! :-)0

Thanks for your comments re saving. as I have a discount rate of 1.94% until next Feb, I am better off saving the OPs in an account that will earn me more than 1.94% credit interest. I've hunted around and plumped for a Tesco savings account to save my OPs in for the next 12 months and then start paying everything directly into the mortgage after that. If rates go up in the meantime then it might be better for me to pay it off directly and scrap saving the money. Fingers crossed that I don't get reluctant to withdraw the money when it comes to taking it out of the mtg account! I'm even going to see if I can try to pay-off/save a bit more than I'd originally planned, but can't work that out until next month.0 -
oh dear...
have a cracked cistern in the downstairs loo and forgot that my house insurance is due next month
may not be able to overpay until March after all my calculations
I'll see if I can do another £20, for what it's worth...
oh well, here's to March!0 -

Right. Some good news on the horizon.
Have spent ages looking at quotes for home insurance and have found a few that are cheaper than Halifax (even though HAlifax give me £50 back!). There are even a couple of offer interest free monthly payments, so I won't have to pay it all in one lump next month. V excited. Haven't decided which policy to take out yet - head swimming with all the info - but I can now approach next month in the confidence that I will be able to put somehting aside for my mtg OPs. Good news on that Catslovelycats! I think paying interest free really helps budgeting doesn't it
Suddenly a £400 request is £30+ over 12 months and it's suddenly do-able
By the way, you have a fantastic Thanked to posts ratio - 1930 to 211 posts - I don't think I've seen anyone match yours yet - it must be the fact that you have cats in your name, although that said I don't think cabbagelovelycabbage has quite the same appeal as your name does.
All the best on your saving!Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
