Neff & Miele and Bosch

Yet another appliance dies in our house, Have been looking at the above makes of dishwasher I have heard these makes are quality all three offer 2 years warranty rather than the usual 1 year with other makes. They are on the expensive side but is that what you have to pay to get a quality appliance or are they expensive because they take in the two year guarantee.
Is it worth paying the price for the above.
Ours was an Hoover which was a bottom of the range and has lasted around 10used around 3 times a week

So you had an appliance which lasted 10 years, used every other day and you don't think that was long enough so you want to change manufacturer? Why?

My Bosch washing machine has run with no problem for over 7 years, albeit used twice a week on average. On that basis I'm more than happy to buy another appliance from them.

For me, personal experience is paramount and if someone now tells me Bosch is rubbish, I simply won't believe them but, instead, stick to what I know.
  • In my opinion if any machine gives you 10 years service it doesn't owe you anything . But to your question I think the 3 machines you mention are the best on the market and will last whereas others are built very much on price alone. Our Miele washing MC has served us longer than I care to remember.

A Hoover of 10 years old may or may not be of the same quality as today's models.Put it another way i have a Zanusi washing machine which is around 12 years old and i was talking to a engineer and he said don't expect Zanusi of old to be the same quality of today's Zanusi.
The Hoover granted did last around 10 years but not without the odd problem here and there as you have said your washing machine has run without problem for 7 years. That's why i wanted to know if the makes i have shortlisted are worth the extra money for years of trouble free service. Just doing my research really

Hi I had a quick glance today and from what i can remember you had to pay for the privilege. I think it was an extra £80 for 5 years.
Thanks it maybe worth bearing in mind.

You've done really well with that Hoover!

The Bosch brand covers a lot of territory. At its cheapest the Spanish-made machines are said to be better than the equivalent mass market brands but to get the quality of previous generations of Bosch products you need either to buy at the top of the range, or switch to sister brand, Siemens. Miele is in a different league - at a price.

Wow did not know some Bosch's were made in Spain. Thanks.
Incidently i have just revisited John Lewis site and they have a John Lewis dishwasher for 349 with a get this 3 year guarantee. Now John Lewis are a reputable company and i was wandering who made their machines they must be well built to be confident of offering a free 3 year guarantee. They look a bit similar to aeg which is from as far as i know German.

someone asked the general question about JL manufacturers in the last few days, might be worth doing a search for the thread but if memory serves me right, it's the electrolux group.

Miele vacum cleaners are very very good, really show up bagless cyclone style machines

Some of the John Lewis own brand machines are worth looking at , they are quality models but with the JL badge on, just not the very latest model,
