Insurance companies will load your premium for all claims even if they are not your fault.
I sued the person that hit my car for the increase in premium that they were responsible for and got a payment from their insurers.
You need to ask you insurers how much that claim added to your premium and sue for this.
How do you go about facilitating that? Small claims court against the individual?0 -
And you do realise that if you don't inform your insurance company of any accidents/vandalism etc in the future they will screw you from here to eternity if you have a legitimate claim
I have never, ever been asked if my car has been vandalised, I've just had the work done and thats been that. Similarly I have never been asked if I have been involved in a bump where no claim was made - tho I am asked each year if I have been involved in an accident involving a claim on either insurance. As far as I have experienced, they don't care what has happened providing you haven't claimed!0 -

The policy will say you need to disclose any material facts, whether or not they ask for the information. The quotes systems now also usually ask if you have been involved in an accident, not a claim.0 -
I got my buildings and contents insurance renewal quote through the other day and was shocked at how much it had gone up with no claims. They wanted £540. I used Compare the market and have bought exactly the same from another spplier, but it is with aviva, with extra bits and bobs on it for £320 ! I am the type who sticks with the same company for life. I have had the same bank account since I was 16, when I was in college.
Shop around, you shouldnt have to pay that much of an increase. I have a company car, so the insurance is withthe business. I wold hate to have to get my own. I havent had my own insurance for 10 years. I know that you can write a letter from the company you work for to state that you have had no accidents and they class it towards no claims. If I had to get my own insurance, I would be having to write my own letter as I own the company! Weird the way inusers work.0 -

When I hear the industry reps saying this I always think it's just a bs excuse to justify pumping more money into their profitsBought, not Brought0 -

Not really, when you consider that some of the "accident assistance" companies are making a huge amount out of very small accidents (IIRC sometimes hundreds a day in extra fees for things like "like for like" car hire), potentially doubling (or more) the cost of many minor no fault claims.
Add in the ambulance chasers "were you hurt in that 5mph shunt?. you were hurt weren't you? I'm sure you were hurt. You Were Hurt!" and it all adds up.
Especially after a couple of snowy/icey winters where there have been a lot more smaller accidents than usual.
IIRC most of the insurance companies make little or no profit from the actual premiums, they make any money from investing the premiums they take in.
I'm not exactly happy with how much my insurance costs, but I can understand how it happens and roughly why it costs as much as it does.0 -

DANGER
Aviva are cheap because they are rubbish and possibly the worst insurance company out there when you need them to help you. Avoid like the plague.0 -

There has been some companies who tout for business in hospital and some hospitals allow these scum to do it
Also some companies cold call or have actively encourage people to claim by exaggerating there injuries, its us the customers who PAY not the insurance companies they just pass this on. Some people are so thick and think its a victimless crime it ain't
I accept there are some cases were there is a fault and genuine injury
There there are those who deliberately cause a accident to claim and have some mate in garage bump the bill up.When I hear the industry reps saying this I always think it's just a bs excuse to justify pumping more money into their profits0
