Unless the T&C prevent me entering on the grounds of age/sex/home address etc. then I have no qualms about entering a comp that is not aimed at me. The promoters run comps for the publicity and/or to get your contact details and will thus be happiest if they get a large number of entries - I really don't think they care who wins the prize. Compare (eg. in a magazine) the space they allocate to new competitions, with the list of winners from a previous comp which sometimes needs a magnifying glass to read! I'm sure some only list previous winners to convince potential entrants of new comps that they actually do award the prizes offered!
PS. I have won several prizes that were not aimed at my sex/age group/tastes but which made excellent presents for friends & family.
We have so many competitions to enter on MSE and other sites and even on a slow day I could find a good amount of prizes that I want to win. Why on earth would you want to enter a competition for a honeymoon when you are not getting married ?????? Who are you going to gift it to ?????
I may well stand alone on this but I do believe that there is still an integrity in the competitions I enter (20-30 at a time so not a huge amount but things I actually do want to win) I really hope that I am not unusual in believing that it would be low to take a honeymoon away from a couple who actually do need/want it
Same goes for lots of other prizes as well - are we really so hooked on winning that we dont actually care what we win
Sorry for the rant but there we areI've just seen the comp for a week in Couples and it is aimed at readers of a wedding magazine so basically aimed at honeymooners.
How do other compers feel about entering comps like these if they are not honeymooners?
:undecided:think:
^^^^^^^^^^^ my viewfairly clear I hope

ive got a question if any of you can help
if i enter a comp and the way for them to contact the winner is to call

It all depends on the promoter of the comp. Some ring back, some leave a message, and some (most of the radio stations) move on to the next person on the list.Never put tables and chairs in the same room.
If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.

:hello:
I was wondering if other people entered comps that weren't local to them? For example, if it is prize like a TV or something that anyone can use but the competition is in a local/regional newspaper would you enter?
I usually steer clear of these even though I want the prize but I'm starting to wonder if it might be worth giving it a go!0 -
I think normally the posters point out if it is just for a certain area, you do have to be careful though because some of them want you to collect the prize if you win.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

Was very happy to drive the 70 miles to collect our 42" TV last year
!
It clearly said in the T&Cs where it had to be collected from (and they even gave us a "Get out of the car-park free" card!) We decided that we could incorporate the journey into a visit / shopping trip.
Have also passed on a win (tickets) when short notice meant we weren't able to travel at a specific time.
Just got to win, then worry!Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
Can we click spam on posts #5 & 6 on this comp.I've sent it to admin but they must still be waking up :-)
