  • its all complete gobbledy goop to me amilucky :rotfl:
  • I have a twitter account and it's not public so I suppose even if I did retween, unless the competition people didn't follow me, they wouldn't know I entered?

Do I need a public profile and loads of followers?

just a public profile. You don't need loads of followers though!
  • when on twitter, search these hashtags -
    win
    comp
    competition
    giveaway
    prize

    etc..

follow the people (setup a separate twitter 'comping addict' a/c, if desired!) who post the comps, and retweet if you want to share the good ideas..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

    Quick Question please:

Do you click 'thanks' or 'Enter' on comps you've not entered? Just wondered how you keep tabs on threads you've viewed but don't fancy the prize. Thanks.

  • if i come to a comp ending tomorrow and i look at the thread and decide not to enter i click thanks and not entered. if i do them earlier, like i will try and go through all comps ending 04 tonight, so any ending 04/03 or later i decide not to enter i will tick both thanks and enter on so next time through i know ive either already entered or already decided not to enter.

ongoing threads i click thanks on a post as i read it whether i enter or not, so if ive thanked i dont enter again even if i cant remember already having done so. ill leave it unthanked if i want to think about entering at a later time for any reason and thank when ive decided and/or entered.

I do main board as they're posted so if I don't enter I don't click anything, just close the thread. As I'm working forwards I won't see that thread again as I start from where I left off :)

If it's a regs comp I click the entered & thanks buttons so I know I've seen that comp already. I bookmark regular comps I want to enter & reopen them daily/weekly as needed.

A few people seem scared of twitter, this is madness since it's the easiest way to enter any comp, and especially the ones with low numbers entering.

Why wouldn't you have a public profile on twitter? There's no info on there in your acount, you can make a comping one that says you're Daffy Duck which works for this...they always direct message for your details if you win anything, if they DM otherwise you can ignore it.
Followers. You need ONE. So you can "retweet to followers" (In practice this could even me your own main account on twitter lol) It's polite on there to follow anyone who follows you, so companies will do this when you follow them, it's needed to DM people on there anyway. It's a SOCIAL network, not for hermits who don't wish to socialise at least a little.
Numbers don't matter except for the people that you follow and get comps from..the more the merrier there. There are at least 2 places full of MSE and Loqax compers on this forum, one in the I won section and one on Facebook which is an event I started for the same reason.

I'm sure I'm not alone in finding that I have made some great friends on FB and Twitter from the comping gang, I doubt that would have happened without them...and it's awesome to share the fun of a big win immediately with each other....in fact I have been warned of wins I didn't knw about on there by mates which is also pretty nice.

I'm starting to make a few simple videos to show the basics of Twitter starting with this one :-
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzVk0nf8kTg

Just the basis of seeing a comp and entering by retweeting. A test really. They will be posted on my Facebook page and probably on that Youtube profile too...
The Twitter directory is the name of the event with people who want followers and to follow you..search that or look on my profile for a link.

Facebook and ~Twitter are easy for companies to run comps on, easy for us to enter comps on, they generate very little spam and what you get can be stopped in a click by blocking pests, there's usually just a minimum "follow and RT" or "like" and it's done...no long forms as a rule. Some very cool prizes around and lots of help to win them as Bobby proved with the Skoda car she just won on there. :D

Don't be scared, just look at it as the future and embrace it, and if it's a struggle...ask for help. There are no stupid question apart from the ones that we don't ask after all ;)

I press thanks and entered on everything, regardless of whether or not I've entered it.

I press thanks because even though I'm not interested in the prize I still think they deserve the thanks for taking the time to post.

And I press entered so I know that I've viewed that competition. I comp by when comps are posted so it's easy to find where I got to last this way.
    2009 Wins = £833
    2010 Wins = £6,597
    2011 Wins = £7,083

    £2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
    20 in 2012 = 4/20

what's the current way of posting ongoing weekly comps?
I have one to post that's not on here.
It's a sign up once newsletter where once signed up, you are entered into the weekly Wednesday draw.

i.e. where do I post (main board?) how shall I do the title, i.e. "E: Ongoing Win a nice prize (Weekly)"
