Hey everyone and Hello to all you newbies, some great posts about how you are all saving, for any one whos interested my dog is feeling better and thankfully doesn't need any follow up treatment. So glad I have the Pet insurance really does take the worry out of it all and I can concentrate on his health instead of worrying about the cost.
So I am half way through the month and haven't needed to dip into my savings which I am glad about thought I might have over stretched things, if no more unexpected costs pop up from now until the 28th then it's a very good month indeed!!:TRegular saver £200 Saving for emergency fund (£2000)

Wow thats impressive, how long has it taken you to save that figure? do you mind me asking where you save it and what kind of interest you get on that figure? That's eventually the type of savings me and DH would like to have but going by our current rate it will take us 15-20 years but still do able i suppose.
Good luck to you!!:TRegular saver £200 Saving for emergency fund (£2000)

I am going to join this also.
After buying a house at 23 and kitting it out (on credit) and then buying a 43k car (on finance and credit card) I have finally paid off all my credit card debt which I stupidly got and now I am a saver.
Interest rates suck but I'm just pleased that I am now getting some contingency money together and not spending on my credit cards.
Since January I have saved £972 and my target is to have saved £6k by the end of 2013.As of 23/05/14
Main Mortgage - £114,940/£125,731 at 3.19%
Loan £2,912/£3,700 at 8.8%
OPs - £3,510 - target £6,000 by Dec 2014
Original MF date June 2045 now March 2044
Savings - £5,010 - target £8,000 by Dec 20140 -
I thought I would post a new thread being a newbie to this.
There seems to be a diary for getting out of debt, and clearing your mortgage, but not one for the amount you can save to put towards something.
I'm saving for a deposit for a house and am aiming for about £16,000.
It would be useful to log how much I can save in a diary format and get as much support as possible.
I'll be keeping a log of my progress and would love to hear any tips you guys have on budgeting and making the most of the money I can keep.
If anybody would like to join me then great- the more the merrier!
Each one of us have a chance to make some savings everyday. Saving some money is not only good habit of a person, it is also a way to ensure some needs so that we can provide for our families in times when we are struggling. It is also important for you to make future someday.0 -

What's your job!?
I spent more than I earned last month - but the first 2-3 months are ALWAYS the most expensive for me (pay for the annual holiday, the car, and lots of birthdays). Hope to save ~£1400 a month starting next month - wont be able to do that forever.0 -
Hi guys,
I'm currently a student, however I'm on placement this year earning a £15,500 salary. I thought this would be a great time to start saving for life after university. I'm able to save around £350 a month, and I have currently saved up £2,800. I'm hoping to have at least £5000-6000 by the end of this placement in August, and then also save a further £4000 for my final two years at university (as I usually get too much student finance). I'll be really pleased if I can get £10000 savings by the end of university!
After that? I'm hoping to get a secure job whilst renting in a city centre, and with no other commitments, hopefully continue saving. But that's a good two years away! Short term goal, £10k by 2015 for a student?! I hope so!
Luke my daughter was in same position as you, got paid placement ?10,000, broke her foot 2 months into it so that was it. Anyways she recovered, placement was over. She has qualified, rents in London with her boyfriend who was in same uni class as her, rent is expensive, she works and travels abroad so pays less of rent, she is saving hard and he will do when he gets out of his overdraft, moving flats to suit his work so 1 months downpayment to collect. they will also be starting to pay through their jobs part of their 25k each student loans, they are hoping to save £10,000+ to get out of 750mth rental to get a mortgage. Good Luck to you.:T Well Done, will watch your blog with interest.
Getting started is the hardest part.:j0 -
Can I join? I've got mini targets for the next few months through until August rather than one large total.
First target is £285 by the end of the month and that's to buy a wardrobe and buy our camping plot at Silverstone for the F1.DF by Xmas 2013 #135: £833/£1195 (69.7%)0
