  • Hi, have really enjoyed reading everyone's saving goals/achievements.

I have been saving for about 6 years and have just under £10k saved. I had been saving conservatively for buying a home with my boyfriend so deposit money would be split and then mortgage affordable, but he had other ideas and left me. I can't handle living with parents for very long so now I need to save as much as physically possible so that I can afford to do it on my own and quickly, hopefully by September, I'm tired of renting and paying fees to estate agents to get nothing in return. I earn about £1300 net a month, I was saving £200 a month but am going to up my savings to £400 a month and see if I can manage it before I have to buy. Might mean I don't have any fun for the foreseeable future, but honestly I don't think I'd be having much fun spending money on going out/doing things alone anyway...oh well, things can only get better as they say and if I can save a chunk of money in the meantime all the better eh?

Good luck to everyone with their personal savings challenges!
  • Hi all,

I also try and save between £200-£300 a month. Obviously this can be difficult once all your bills are paid but I always think that I want to save for a deposit on a house one day.

If you renew your ISA account with your bank every year (April) then you should get a decent interest rate. Currently Barclays is on 3.5%, which is better than other banks.
  • To save credit is a credit for human being. To save credit is must be needed for the future.

Hi yes to save the money you should have some good ideas with you. Just get the ideas from the accounts books and it is sometimes necessary to keep a record of how and how much you are going to save. I never believe in keeping money with insurance people. I like to deposit in banks. there are many great ideas which you can go with.:beer: :D:D

Just looked back on the thread, my last post was on 29th may, think its time for an update! I've been saving really hard and have a bit of money still coming my way from students so as it stands I'm at....

    £2200/ £4000 :D

Very pleased with myself. I'm going to struggle to spend it now on a car which was the whole point in me saving! Looking forward to starting up a house deposit fund :D

But recently i have planned not to spend money on irrelevant kind of stuff and also i have to pay for my father's supported living centers bills and now i can say my life is much better and now i do save a lump sum money at the end of my month..........
