Not that I care about internet privacy etc.
My Egg Uni account money goes from this -> Lloyds every month ready for rent for the next month (funny thing is the payment was done on Wed and it came through today, a Sunday). I rounded it down as well!! :rotfl:
My HSBC is my main account.....
I have a Barclays ISA too with £1700 (I think), waiting for student loan in Jan so I can top that up.
Also have £1299 in Haliax Fixed (not shown) which when matures (end of Jan) is going back into Egg Uni savings.
What crazy balances though eh!0 -

Me and Em are brand new to this. But we are trying to save for house. We are both debt free which looking round this website is a key advantage.
So far i have opened a savings account, well 2
7% fixed rate halifax regular saver. £ 30.00 a month
halifax ISA i have £100 in that.
Em has £10.04p in her natwest saving account.
Em works at the hospital so she has a guaranteed income.
Myself well im a self employed plasterer, so i have to have access to money thats why im only putting £30.00 a month away. Also with the current climate in the building trade, well im bracing myself to say the least.
I hope to go a steady pace with saving but my aim is £20,000 for december 1st 2009.
Any advice would be greatfully recieved

Welcome Adam and Emma! You seem to be making a good start, and if you're debt free you are certainly getting a head start
Lokolo - your balances give me a headache... I can't bear the ugliness... it's obscene. How dare you parade them in public like that???
I've updated my signature for November! I'm still growing, economically, but this is my third bad month in a row - by bad I mean I've saved less than budgeted. I'm not technically in a recession yet (2 months of negative growth shall be my own personal recession definition), but I'm definitely in an economic slowdown.
I have been suffering from a fall in income (where did all the overtime go?) and a hike in clothing expenditure (I'm so cold *buys jumpers*)... and it doesn't help that I have my eye on a beautiful pair of royal-blue knee-high leather-boots in River-Island... only £124.99. Bring on the sales (got £100 boots for £30 in RI last year!).
I had interest added today on various accounts - Natwest 58p, Kaupthing Edge (I had some money in there for a few days last month) £1.21, and a rubbishy HSBC Online Bonus Saver 17p. I'm disappointed to see that Natwest's E-Saver rate has fallen - all that hassle to open it! Aren't there any decent accounts left?

To be fair my ISA can't be rounded up cause thats my old one so its the normal £3000 + interest.
2 current accounts meh they're all good.
Then savings is all rounded up :money:0 -
I do have a messy ISA from last year, I must confess :S
And I have odd pennies in my purse, and my current account. And my car loan has odd pennies O/S. And my credit cards are ugly during the month, but when I make a payment, I take the pennies into account, to give a nice balance.Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

Saved £339 to my ISA and have paid a chunk off our joint debts so I'm happy.
Don't know how this month will go as I am applying for post grad uni so will have to pay fees up front and then try to claim them back from my employer - looking at over £1000, but at least I have that squirreled away in another account so shouldn't have to touch the ISA!
Anzac Biscuit - I would put part of your lump sum into your ISA so that you are earning as much tax free interest for the year as possible, but make sure that you have enough in your other saving account so that you can take it out of there for any clothing or holiday purchases and not lose you ISA allowance for the year. I make sure that I have just over £1000 that I can access in savings for emergencies (not sure how uni fees come under emergencies but you know what I mean) without touching my ISA. Thats just my opinion though - there are plenty more experienced people on here that can give you better advice! I'm jealous about the trip home - are you going to be home for xmas? This year will be my 6th away from home, hopefully the last!
Well done to everyone else with their savings - I am in awe at how you do it!
Aussie
Thanks for this. I have been looking for some advice on ISA, you just hit the nail.I work on behalf of MS, however, my views do not necessarily reflect theirs, I am not acting as a representative of the company while on this forum and I cannot warrant that what I say is 100% correct in all cases.0 -
I have 25K in savings now and will have 31K by end of June next year all being well.
1/2 of Money is in a fixed Lloyds ISA at 6.5%
Rest is in the following
Halifax reg saver (500ppm) fixed at 10%
Lloyds reg saver fixed (250ppm) 8%
BMS Bond fixed (6 months) 6.85%
I am saving £750pm at present though this was higher when I had more over time. I am just glad it seems like I will get a decent return on the Money already locked away.
With my Parents giving me 1OK as a gift I will have 41K so wil have a good base for a Morgage of around 70K which is just over 3X yearly pay. With another 6.5K to pay out in 3 years through a work save scheme.
Good luck to all other savers.0
