Don't forget that the first winter in warmer climes you are still adjusting from the norm in Blighty. By winter #2 you will practically be natives ( tho not in the Lord Of The Flies sense...) and will get chilly.

That may happen as well :D

Do they do a 4-sided log-burner to put in the middle of the room? Or is that called a bonfire...?
    :rotfl:
Hey gallygirl! So exciting to hear all about your 'accidental' house purchasing :D Is it an older property? Or a newer build - sorry if you've said and I've missed it. I was just wondering with it having a utility, whether that was indicative of an older property - when such useful features were incorporated into houses :D

Anyway, I just popped on to say that I was minded of you when I read Rhonda-Jean's blog, with her 'weekend reading' selection. I followed her link to a recipe for slow-cooker Korean Sloppy Joes (which may, or may not float your boat ;)), but got distracted on scrolling down the page, by another recipe...... which had sun-drenched, sophisticated entertaining written all over it..... (no, really). Don't know if you've any sophisticated cocktail soirees to cater for in the near future .......

    Greying x

Oh, and just in case slow-cooker Korean sloppy joes are your style of eating, recipe HERE ;)
Yes it is old, well by our standards anyway, probably around 30 years old.

Thanks for the recipes, though unfortunately it will be March before the sophisticated soirees as it appears certain people have clashing social lives - will still be a bit cold for frozen cocktails but may try some of these :D

That recipe looks lovely but I don't get the 'lets put minced beef in a roll' thing - that's just a 'food down the top' accident waiting to happen :rotfl:. Can't see me being able to buy gochujang - there isn't even a Chinese or Indian grocers here . Have spotted a North African store though so will be exploring that in due course :)

Quiet on the terrace this morning and marginally cooler I think. No doubt still quiet as all the teenagers went to the village last night - so funny watching them come home in various states of disrepair :rotfl:. Quite a few are at the age where the parents are having to grit their teeth and let them have some freedom - it's a difficult balance and I'm glad mine are well passed that now. There will be at least one very sore head this morning (in addition to Mr GG's :D. Whereas I was acting as bartender so two of my 'daquiris' were actually fizzy water :rotfl:).

It's so different here at the moment as all the 'holiday makers' are here so much busier than usual. Enjoying always having someone to chat to :). We didn't come out in July/August so a lot of the acquaintances were of the passing type so it's been nice to get to know them better and there is usually a cold beer on offer at the pool :D. They're a sociable bunch as well - around 30 of us going out for lunch today  (well, after last night there may be one or two less :rotfl:).

Also nice to see the younger children learning to swim - one young girl of 3 or 4 has learned this week :T and it was lovely watching a dad teach his son yesterday. He was so patient and supportive it was great to watch. Quote of the day had to be 'please don't pull my chest hair when you are drowning' :rotfl:.

All of which has absolutely nothing to do with money :o.

    Nature Notes:
Not much to report. A few thread-waisted wasps came to visit yesterday (don't click if you're faint hearted :D). They're around 3cm long , wouldn't stay still for me to photograph them. Scary, but pretty groovy as well.
Cicadas have started - noisy little !!!!!!s :D.

Mr GG is 'in da pool' - think I will join him :).

Not coffee dear, Lady Grey tea. You can take the girl out of England....... :D.

Mr GG having a pre-lunch siesta :rotfl:. Meanwhile I have done an hour's ironing .

30 years old is an "old" property? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry for not keeping with your diary, it moves so fast, but is this another Spanish property?

I know Alex, I've never lived in a house that's more than 30 years old :rotfl:. Much as I used to hanker after a rose covered cottage, and out here an old cortijo, I suspect my 'Bodge It & Scarper Inc.' approach to DIY wouldn't really cut it ;).

Yes, in Spain, do keep up sir :D.

    Nature Notes:
Sitting on the terrace listening to the spotless starlings whistle, click on third triangle down on left to hear what they're like.

Unfortunately they're not as good as this one:

Turns out they're related to mynah birds :rotfl:.
