Sent a text saying I felt trust betrayed - watch this space.....

£5 Morrisons voucher, so £5 off btl mortgage, £16,851.51 to go :D.

Bids on 3 ebay items and a good few watchers. Here's hoping :)

Lost 1.5lbs, was hoping for 2 so here's hoping for a good week ahead :T

    Busy week!

Neighbour has been over. Has had a letter from b soc saying to start repossession proceedings so paid them what he could. Obviously I'm ok with that, but had a bit of a go at him for not being upfront with me, but I can understand why as he's embarrassed about the whole thing. The worst of it is, he's got PPI (taken out with mortgage co so goodness knows how much over the odds he has paid ) and has a letter saying he's due 4.5k from them (now 5.5k), but then they've decided it's the co who've bought their PPI business who should pay . He's got the Financial Ombudsman involved so here's hoping for a speedy resolution.

Got dates confused & it's tomorrow & Tuesday plasterer finishing. Most lights should now be up, new shower installed. Once decorating finished I just need to drop key off (and upfront monies) to carpet fitter. Around 3.5k still to pay , can manage 1/2 from funds and Mr GG stumping up for rest so that now puts me around 63.5k behind him . Really need to get cracking on btl mortgage so I can get it cleared and then catch him up. DD popped in for dinner tonight on her way home from weekend away and said she will be paying me something tomorrow but wouldn't say how much .

Currently reading 'The Millionaire Next Door', got from the library :A. Only just started it, but v interesting. So far talking about the difference between wealth i.e. what you accumulate in the way of assets, and living up to your income. To assess if you're wealthy, take your (annual income x age) divided by 10. That is what your net wealth should be. I'm bang on target :rotfl:, which I'm pretty chuffed with, bearing in mind I've only had a well paid job for 2 years :T. If things go as planned I will be well above it in 5 years :j. Then I'll be wealthy :). It's an interesting way of looking at things as it's measuring relative wealth rather than absolute wealth. So there will be low paid people on here who would count as a PAW (Prodigious Accumulator of Wealth) even though their net assets are a lot lower than someone on a much higher salary. Something else to be added to spreadsheets :rotfl:.

Off to bed with book :)

Hi, that's a good one;) I was wealthy than until I quit my job to take care of baby:rotfl:Didn't even notice though:rotfl:

The other calculation is to know if you are paid well enough: age in thousands:)

    Credit Card 0%: -£1,800 Reg Saver: £4000/£6000 ISA: £0/£2500

From March 2012: Mortgage OP: £160 pcm
    (saving 29k):D

I don't like the (annual income x age) divided by 10 - means I should have a net worth of £110,500, which I have no where near! Got a bit of saving to do!

Age in 1000's is good :D way over that

  • Hi Gally, just popping by to respond to your post on the MFi3 thread. Do you have a C&G mortgage? Was just wondering if you could register for Lloyds Internet banking anyway in order to see said mortgage without having any 'normal' accounts with them?
    Regards

Lovely weekend away at a friend's wedding, fabulous weather :T. Looked good in silk dress from ebay, then later charity shop tunic and boots ;). Lovely walks along the river at Maidenhead (nice houses, too noisy from the railway ;)), the park where we were staying and Windsor (again, nice houses, too noisy from aircraft :p). No hangover :T. Stopped off at Mr T on the way back, used £9 of vouchers so £9 paid off btl mortgage :D. Need another £13 to knock a month off it :T.

New tenant getting keys next weekend, or maybe Weds if I sort out in time :). Will be good to have someone in, and ghet some rent money . Still a lot of bills to pay but nearly there. Dropping off some money to carpet fitter later.

SIL's birthday tomorrow, up there in a mo with card & flowers, but she's going in to get a lump removed Thurs :(.

Coming back to an empty house as DS & GF in London :T. Quiet night, sorting out paper gremlins. Little blighters :rotfl:.

Still enjoying reading The Millionaire Next Door. Even Mr GG listened to me talking about it . It points out you need good offence (good income) AND good defence (frugal ways) to be wealthy. We tried to think of people we knew who were wealthier than they should be. I could think of 3 people, all at work. He thought of one, also at work. Sad none of our friends/family qualify :(, though I do have an aunt/uncle I suspect have put a fair bit away, but also they are v generous with their sons. Will finish it tonight, in the bath :)

    gg ;)

  • Hi GG, I have asked DH to order the book from the library, as I think it will be interesting reading for the next phase of our journey.

I used to work in Maidenhead often which required leaving home at 6am - I so don't miss those days and I spent so much time away from home, I am surprised they recognised me when I came home.

Hope all goes well with the new tenant - best wishes Tilly x
