Email from BT to say TV service up and running. Says should only be 30 minutes to set up so decide to do it myself rather than wait for DS :D.

    So far:
Connect ethernet cable to router and plug in pluggy thing to mains. Time taken: 15 minutes, complete reorganisation of where plugs are in bedroom and 3 bits of furniture permanently shifted 1cm.

Next 15 minutes is going to be fun :rotfl:.

    Next:
Plug in other ethernet cable to Vision box and plug in 2nd pluggy thing to mains.
Time taken: 10 minutes. Plug in as described. Unplug so I can remove Sky box and replace with Vision box. Remove Sky box. Replace with Vision box. Needs a power lead through back of TV unit. Hole not big enough. Power cable wired into box, not a lead. Plug is one of the fused thingies you can't take off. Will need to cut off plug and replace (remembering to connect new plug AFTER I've fed cable through hole :rotfl:). I know for a fact I don't have a spare plug. Abandoned.

Total time taken: 25 minutes, ahead of BT's target . Slight technical hitch that neither BT nor Sky are working, Never mind .

Remember I do have a spare plug. Find it. Cut off plug on BT box and take out fuse, replace in new plug as different size. Feed wire through back of hold BEFORE connecting plug :T. * Decide to work out what all cables are for. Find 2 unused, 1 will be Sky, no idea about the other, remove. Find and remove another lead thingy. Worry slightly about the fact there are 2 aerial type leads. Ignore. Look for wire stripper thingy. Can't find. Use default tools of scissors and teeth. Wire up plug. Plug in. Worry why BT box not working. Fiddle with it. Wonder why they put the on/off switch at the back when everything else is at the front. Admire pretty blue light and praise self for being genius physicist (changing a plug is all I remember from physics lessons at school :D).

    * Take as a given that I am ostentatiously ignoring the dust etc at the back of the TV.

Total time taken: 40 minutes. BT -10 and counting.

    Tea break .

Plug 2nd ethernet thingy into BT box and check light goes green. Go upstairs to check 1st ethernet thingy also green*. Yippee.

Follow instructions on connecting up. Aerial in won't fit. Plug in what I think should be aerial out. Switch on TV and scroll up and down. Get shock when find BT :o. Tell it to tune in. Am not expecting this to work due to aerial problem. Currently tuning.........

Total time taken 50 minutes. BT - 20 and counting.

    * Forgot to mention - also ignoring dust behind bedroom units :D.

GG if your N/wide regular saver is the same as mine, I read it that the introductory rate ends 31 October regardless of how many months you had the account...
Thanks MWC - they've confirmed it, ends 31st Oct (but interest on 31st Dec) so will lift money then and leave £1 in till interest paid.

Decided my suspicions about aerial were correct. End is the right sex but has funny narrower fitting, will investigate at lunchtime and see what I can get.

Clock stopped at 55 minutes, BT -25 and counting :o.
