So many places don't have a menu outside, or will say menu of the day but no idea what it is, or how much.
I think menu of the day is like soup of the day. They will cook up anything left over.

  • I know what you mean. It really isn't surprising that they are in such a mess financially. It was easy when everyone just went to the med, but they need to compete globally now.

That's the irony - some of them are actually fab, and they rarely do change from day to day, maybe the odd extra item. I suppose it's good food sense to have a limited menu when quiet as less waste - but flipping well tell people what you have !!!

    Morning all :D

GG sounds like your having fun and keeping the old grey matter ticking with new possibilities while you there :)

The whole Cyprus thing really scares me as well, and I think it's very very crafty what they have done, it will be alot of the older generation that have managed to save over the 100k and they won't be as likely to protest etc, something similar will happen here, we are in a much worse mess than Cyprus just very curious as to how the government can tax is anymore or take the savings etc ... I'm thinking he may go for BTL properties next which is a bit of a grrrr point as the inlaws have one and no doubt I would be the one that sorts anything out should that happen,

Part of me feels sorry for those affected by the bedroom tax, but part of me thinks the private sector has had this issue for years so the social sector really have been lucky, I also didn't see the social sector coming out in support for the private sector when they were getting it forced on them, ie: ( we will only give you x towards your accommodation as that's all your entitled to) I do also remember a good few social housing individuals rubbing it in my face that they had a 4 bedroom house which they didn't pay for and I had to pay alot for my 2 bedroom ha "ha ha el your a mug, I wouldn't pay rent " etc ... So yes I do feel sorry for alot of the bedroom tax sufferers ... But part of me is thinking tough !!!! to a certain minority as well ...

This country is in dire straits though so we do need to cut our cloth to match, I just hope it's not more painful for those individuals that are doing their best and trying to sort their own financial situations out

I was talking to one of the girls I work with earlier in the week, shes being affected by it and is "horrified and disgusted" and wanted to know how I'd feel about being told to move out of my home in to a smaller one or pay for it myself......she completely missed the point that I did just that before Christmas, moved from a two bed house to a one bed flat because I couldn't afford it beyond the end of my lease and the council had been amazing in sorting me out LHA to help me out with it but had said that because of my income after the initial award which they limited to the end of my lease wouldnt be rolled over if I decided to stay in the house.

It really annoyed me as I'd kill to have a secure lease for as long as I want it, in the area she lives in, not to mention the rent on her 2 bed house is less than I pay for my flat before her benefits get paid to her.

Not nice for anyone affected by bedroom tax, but in the state we are in we simply can't afford to keep paying for people to stay in houses bigger than their needs. I must admit, it's a decision I would have taken easier than some others that have been made.

Logged on to new Santa account this morning - had transferred some money over yesterday into monthly bills/spends savings account but decided to put it into current account to keep separate (current account not really used yet). Logged onto old account next to find some ms money in, so transferred to Santa savings then to current (have only got savings set up as a transfer and need card reader to add one). So, 2 transfers in the space of 15 minutes. Welcome to my world Santa :T

That only leaves 120 to find for playbook :D

Not as warm 1st thing today and cloudy, plus a few drops of rain . How very dare it :rotfl: long walk in order I think, if rain stays off.

Hi GG - hope you're having a wonderful time in the sunshine.... I agree with your comments re the businesses just not promoting themselves.... it's a wonder some of them have survived for as long as they have so far, there seems to be a lack of any business acumen.

Then again, maybe it's still low season in the area you're in at the moment..... not that it's an excuse, you'd think they would still want to maximise any passing trade.
  • Hey GG, we have a yellow bright thing in the sky right now. Blinking freezing but at least the sky doesn't look so grey :j:j:j

Well done on the Santa account. Given my experience with the Spanish bank, the more people who earn from this co the better :)

Raid, raid, raid (feel I have to open to warn although you will have worked out by now there is a difference in styles!!)

GG's gone plant shopping (the growing variety - I say that because you know she has "form", so to speak) so I have more than a minute on her i-thingy

Got to say it is impressive being able to sit miles away writing this (on the balcony to make you green, although good to hear it is sunny back home)

Another good day started off with GG winning a nice pressie in one of the comps she has entered and I won't steal her thunder. Then nice walk on the beach before menu del dia

I realise it is really great to be able to say things like this and, maybe, appear to gloat but we never forget how fortunate we have been and, with God's help, we stay healthy.

We have had a few chats about the Cypriot situation and it feels all wrong. Having said that, I feel El is right to remind us of the UK position as the financing of so much public/ private "enterprises" has been hidden from the public debt. Personally I feel quite angry about the lack of any political leadership from any of the main parties and this will invariably lead to people feeling more and more dis-enfranchised which is good for nobody

More power to all of you. It is marvellous to read on here everyone's enthusiasm and support in achieving your goals and I enjoy the occasional "gate crash" when the device is left unattended
