GG, where did you book for your free contact lens assessment? My DS1 has been wearing contact lenses for the past 2 years, but when he went for a free eye test at MrT a few weeks back, he was told that he needs to pay for the contact lens assessment and fitting :o So he opted for cheaper glasses as a temporary measure

Vision Express US - but I had just forked out for an eye test so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts.
Gallygirl was it you who mentioned frozen grapes? If so I can't thank you enough!!!!!

No, but I'll take the credit anyway :rotfl:, I might have mentioned them after someone else did, aren't they lush :D.
Have you never worn contact lenses GG? If so you'll be amazed at all the things you've missed seeing when you first wear them - complete field of vision is fab! They do take a bit of getting used to but you'll be fine.

I have 1 v bad eye that can't be corrected. I have astigmatism in the other and it is shaped like a rugby ball instead of a football, as the optometrist so charmingly put it :rotfl:. I tried contacts years ago but at that stage needed a big lens and I only have little eyes. Basically, I got it stuck in and couldn't get it out (other eye too weak to help out) so said never again as it was agony. However, have been convinced I can have little ones like everyone else so will give it a go. Eek . Am fine with blood and gore but icky with eyes :o.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

it took me 6 hours of lessons to get over my squeamishness and master getting contacts in and out of my eye.... only to decide I looked weird without my facial furniture so i stuck with my specs :D

It is something I've been toying with lately so I might see how much boots charge the next time I'm in town

I would love to wear contacts as I'm forever losing my glasses (I need glasses for driving and TV). I'm heartened that it took you a wee while to master getting contacts in and out Pavlov, as a few years ago I tried and the guy (who I am convinced was on work experience from school) became really impatient with me so I just gave up after only one 'lesson'.

I have little eyes also GG and although can happily remove an eyelash or grit etc. I think my eyes are too little to take a lens:(

I used to wear glasses and then lenses for many years.... Until I had my eyes zapped around 8 years ago. Was the best thing ever!
