We did a study of dead sticks (bare root twigs) for 4-5 months when I studied plants/horticulture in Edinburgh (20 every week, different types of trees) and if we were good we got to go out in the cold and look at the trees and think about them - I think it was as a punishment - after that I wanted to set fire to every tree I saw as often I still went - 'oh god another tree I don't know - pah'.....................
(didn't really set fire to them)
I'm not bad with trees after I had a break from all that, but gettting rusty as I don't see them as much.

I must admit, I'm an ignormus too when it comes to identifying plants. If someone had stuck a bunch of dead sticks in front of me and asked me to identify them I would have said "Kindling.""Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I'm not much better, honest! I did confuse forsythia and hazel, after all, and the one I need to chop down - I *think* its an ash, but they usually have all their seed heads hanging from them throughout the winter, and this one doesn't.... tough. It has to go, whatever it is, its way too close to the house.
Hello both of you - I know Pippi's been away, but Z it feels like you have too - hope you're doing well, and haven't had the lurgy....
Oh, I came on here in a fit of shame
I've just spent a whole 10 minutes "doing" my clothes - I **badly** need some jeans - I threw away 4 pairs recently, and, erm, I've only got the ones I'm wearing. I do have some cord castoffs from my sister, some black "posh" castoffs from her, and a summerweight beige pair of casuals that I bought last year - they're itchy, and I don't want them, but needs must when the devil drives, as they say :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Jeans are important, btw, because they're my everyday workwear, as I sit on the floor.
Dresses: I have 3 mini dresses the length of present day tunics, which I wore about 10-12 years ago.... I have one black knee length dress that hangs well, and a crushed cotton maxi dress I bought for £3 in a charity shop ten years ago. And thats **it**. Nothing else at all. Between having my clothes spread out all over the house, not having paid any attention to decluttering old stuff, and having to cut back so drastically, I just didn't realise things had got so bad....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thats a good starting point with the clothes, as you could mix and match the tunics with jeans, trousers, shorts, skirts etc.
I'm glad you have realised that you make the house and your life not the house makes yours. Better to have a house that you enjoy coming home to than one you can't afford to go out from. One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

You're psychic, aren't you
I'd known that intellectually, of course, but now I'm starting to really *get* it ....
Been carrying on a bit .... I've thrown 5 Tshirts away .... I have an oversupply of decent hangers now that I've got rid of so many clothes over the last year - but at least there's spare hanger space to keep them :rotfl:
And tights. Why the bleep do I have so many pairs of tights when I have so few dresses and only 5 skirts white, brown, blue, navy, black maxi) which I also hardly ever wear ..... 7 pairs of flesh coloured tights still in their boxes, 2 pairs of black tights ditto, and a dozen assorted pairs all washed and ready to wear. Not that I ever do. I must be barmy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I can feel a shopping trip approaching you KC

I have the opposite problem with jeans though, plenty of pairs but rather too plenty of me to fit in them at the moment
I've been having a makeup clear out today, havent done that for ages & it was good fun. First I put it all on my face & DD was in stitches while muttering rude things about circuses & clowns :rotfl:
I've chucked a lot out & am happy with the little I have, I just really need to find that perfectly colour matched minerals makeup that I can wear daily without feeling too 'obvious' ... a trip to the Body Shop to brave the chair will be happening soon.0 -

That is so apt, and sums up how I feel KC is 'sounding' about this house.
I have only one pair of jeans that fits me properly. Was out with sister earlier, and saw a lovely tunic type top, and realised I didn't know what to wear it with. Jeans, sister said, and high heels. Apparently thats the thing.
I need to sort make up out too, rarely wear it, just a bit of lip gloss, but really should do more.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I'm not even going to look to see when I can retire now, it should have been 9 years away & it changed to 14. Heaven knows where it is now.
I seem to do better at identifying trees than flowers but I am really not good at either and have no hope unless they are in full leaf or flower :rotfl:
Having spent most of the last decade in jeans for work and home I have recently started wearing dresses and I love them
Especially at this time of year with thick tights and knee high boots
I don't seem to have many skirts though
I have a home not a house
I am so lucky with my neighbours as I live in a mid terrace, people tried to talk me out of it saying it would be very noisy but it really isn't. I love living here
One set of neighbours did ask if I could make a bit more noise as they sometimes worry if I am OK :rotfl: :j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

The retirement age is getting older quicker than I am. By the time I do retire, school leavers will leave at 25 and people will retire at 104...I seem to do better at identifying trees than flowers but I am really not good at either and have no hope unless they are in full leaf or flower :rotfl:
You're even worse than I am!
