Just a thought. If you love cats and their company so much but dont want to get your own have you thought about offering a home boarding service for cats? You get paid for looking after them, get their lovely company and then hand them back to go off and do your own thing. No extra work for you other than feeding them (oh and the dreaded tray if you have to keep them indoors)

The other way of being able to travel (around the UK). Homesitting for cat lovers! You can sign up to a company of Pet Aunts and offer to do that as a self employed thing. They pay all travel expenses as well as a wage.

that sounds right up yout street KC ..what great ideas
  • Indeed ace ideas here!

Our local cat charity has just opened a new charity shop in town - folk volunteer there too, but I don't think you get much 'cat action' - holidaying looking after cats would be ace - didn't Marru do that kind of thing for pets?

    Yukky here - really yukky.

Have a nice work day today.

Morning! *really* don't fancy volunteering in a shop, no way no how, but working with *cats* - fantastic. If they boarded with me, they'd be indoors all the time unless they had a run, of course, and I really doubt I'll get a run - tho I might have to if thats what it is. It *is* a way to make some money from the house while I'm living here apart from the therapy work. Very interesting!

Just got one hour of paid work today, but I have a to-do list of fair dimensions:
    - 5 emails (written one, letting it sit there in draft form so I can revise it if need be).
    - print out agenda etc for committee meeting on Saturday.
    - write blog :D loving doing that, especially now I can upload photos :rotfl:
    - purloin some sawdust created when some trees were chopped down by the community orchard - I'm planning on bagging it for next year - desperate for organic material for my garden, to help leaven the clay.
    - wash hair - its *disgusting* :p
    - dig up dead pigeon - a fox chomped on a pigeon in the patio border where I'm supposed to put the slate chips, and I'm not putting the membrane down on the remains, so I'll have to get rid of them _pale_
    - and the one I'm most ambivalent of all about - go get a flu jab _pale__pale__pale_

ETA - done 4 emails, definitely going to join Cheery in a :coffee:

    What constitutes yukky?

Why are you ambivalent about it?

Oh blimey, you mean I actually have to *think*? Noooooooooo :o

Okay. I'm worried about coming down with flu before I'm fully protected, and that having had the jab will make it worse.

Just your usual free-floating anxiety :p it'll pass. I *will* get the jab - done the paid work (sadly!) now off to get a cuppa, and off to get the jab. List isn't going too bad, if I'm up to there :j

Hmm yukky - 9 degrees but feels so much colder, sideways rain, cold 20mph winds and getting upto 40mph later!

At least the rains stopped battering the homestead.

But as this weather keeps away potential robbers I should button it really.

(hope you get the flu thing done kc):A

Well first, you're never fully protected with the flu jab. It will have no effect on any sub-varieties other than the one it immunises against, and a certain percentage of people catch that strain after immunisation anyway.

It shouldn't make it worse though.
