They weren't sealed in this house, Z, hence my direct experience of "whistling" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Right, definitely stopping on here, I keep blathering and not actually *doing* it.
See you later folks

:wave:Morning KC!!!
How did screening the vents go?
Another day of domestic goddessing :rotfl:planned here - as you can see it took a whole week to recover from the last attempt!
Today it will be in 15 minute bursts though - just about all I can handle at a time - First item - dinner in the slow cooker - then slowly - oh sooooooooo slowly on from there!
XO

Morning :hello:
Erm, not so wonderfully :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:the blu tak just fell off the wall, I forgot that tho I use blu tak for the doorbell, its stuck onto upvc. Hammer and nails worked well, but the nails were "only" an inch long, so didn't actually keep the thing on the wall...
Not sure of the next step - I think thats to go to the Wickes website and check what they say, otherwise I'll ring them up and ask about longer nails. What a faff :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
It did show me one thing tho - that I should have been keeping a weather eye on the gubbins that accumulates round the side of the house - lots of dead leaves and whatnot, which is a prime living ground for beasties - so I had a grand old sweep out (I had to - couldn't get to the vents ) so thats one lesson taught.
Of course, one of them descended from the ceiling this morning, at 6.45am  life, eh?
Plus, being a domestic goddess is very hard work - only 15 minutes can be borne at any one timeI'm working in the evening & I don't want cooking smells around, so it will be simple pasta or steamed tatties today. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it
DFW wise:
- sold *another* book! This is very odd. Its a penny one, so not much profit, but its less space needed on my bookshelves, and a bit more cash in the pot, all good.
- had an idea about mulch and soil improver for blueberries - I think pine needles are a good idea for them - if so - the path I use through the park is literally covered with pine needles, from indigenous pine - could be a really good foraging exercise!
- on my amazon-trip to the PO this afternoon, I'll check stuff in the Coop, as thats the only shop in any way dfw in that direction - very rich village, dontcha know!
And thats it really, not fantastic, but there's enough paid work in there to make it all run along nicely.
You have a good day! Don't work too hard!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good stuff with the Amazon sales! Hope the anti-spider measures help, I wonder if there are any things they don't like that you could put round the place.. you know, like you can use chilli for ants?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Nails aren't gripped by walls, so if you want them to stay in, you have to have them sticking upwards - think of those brass picture hangers.Of course, one of them descended from the ceiling this morning, at 6.45am  life, eh?
Sounds like one of those "Special Air Spiders" - was it wearing a balaclava?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I bought something called "Spider Repellent" (the advert says, this does not kill spiders) and I have loads of horse chestnuts drying ... I'll keep you posted! I still think filling in little holes here and there is one of the best ways to keep them out, even from the loft _pale_:wave:

:hello: hi DT! Now you're online, must pm you.
 thanks Z! Thats what I thought after I'd burbled .... I'll have another go this afternoon, and let you know.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Post has just arrived, and included in it is a work journal I subscribe to, in the usual plastic cover, which gives me an idea - I can wrap one my amazon sales in that - it still has to have an envelope, I think, but it certainly saves any accidental wetting, rain, whatnot - I'm pleased! I'm also slightly peeved, as I used to chuck the things out. Ah well, another good idea for re-use. I'm currently using up my clingfilm for this job - I won't use it any more for food, not since I learned about the effects of plastic leaching into food and water.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
