I also learned that I should have harvested my little cobnut tree about a month ago, oops - and yes, every single cobnut has gone - never saw any squirrels round my garden tho  I'm a bit puzzled about that.

OH says to let you know they are 'secret squirrels' - you can't see 'em.

    - ring dentist done!
    - go to local PO - couple of things to send to France. kind of done, sent the urgent one.
    - sweep and vacuum, as I'm doing a freebie consultant thingie at lunchtime. done!
    - clean the hob, its *disgusting* - and I don't use that word lightly  done!
    - I'm really tempted to do something in the garden. I know - there's one set of lambs lugs that needs planting, and the fennel I bought in Norfolk, which has survived, needs a bigger pot - I don't think I dare plant it in the ground yet, not while there's so much leftover grass for the slugs  A bigger pot it is, then :)Ah. Dug another couple of square feet, and chopped a bit of grass. No repotting, oops. I'll do that tomorrow.
    - breakfast! Definitely done! Plus lunch mark 1 and 2 - off now for a snackypoo.

I also phoned the local Rok Skool, to see if they wanted my folk guitar, the one I can't use from arthritis - they do, so they should be picking it up in an hour or so. Thats a good thing - it will get loved, and used, and I'll have more space.

Sounds like a fun weekend! Hope you have a good day today - is it still nice and warm there for gardening?

It was lovely, thanks! Tho I felt terribly virtuous doing all that gardening (the effect of which *cannot* be seen :rotfl:)

And yep, its still really warm here - I believe the soil stays warm much longer than the air, so to speak :o, so planting will survive for a while yet...

It *would* have been - except the guy never showed up when he said he would, called and then left a message when I was out at the post office, which I'd delayed for hours, and said he'd pop round at 6.30 - 7. At 7.30 I'd given up and was in the shower, which I was desperate for after the gardening in the heat ... when there was a ring on the door. I didn't run out of the shower!

I'm not giving it to them, I don't think. The whole point of doing this was to make me feel okay about giving it away, and I don't :( not now. I'll find another Rok Skool, I think they're all over Sussex.

Anyway, I have 2.5 paid hours today, and will do some more digging, and repot that lone little lambslugger ... I'm away to Liverpool on Saturday, and my aim is to dig up the turf on one particular bit of this new border, so by the time I come back, it might have settled, and I can re-weed it of bits of grass.

    Gardening Advice Needed
Actually, I think I know the answer to this. I really want to plant my sedum; it needs well drained soil, but I can dig in some of these chalky pebbles to achieve that. Thing is, I shouldn't put it where its going to be disturbed by annual crops, should I? I'm sure thats a no, its so slow growing, it'd be a disaster for it to be disturbed.... I'll have to figure out where I can put it...

On the sedum I'd just temporarily plant it in the ground still in it's pot as long as the pot is still big enough, if not repot it first, the pot drainage if it's the right mix should keep it OK unless the place you want to put it gets really water logged. Then it's only going to be really disturbed when you finally plant it in the place you want it to be. It would need keeping an eye on if it's really dry for too long, but sedums are designed to cope with dry anyway.

Hope you find somewhere soon for the guitar, once you've decided it's time for something to move on it's always a pest when things get messed up to stop it.
