Harry has become a comfort read for me - I'm not sure I'd take me as a role model :rotfl::rotfl:but good to hear the confirmation of the washing thing.

Be careful if your sofa cushions are more than one colour - my mum once washed a couple of sofa cushions from a sofa we'd been given, they were kind of beige with red swirls and things on - and they went the most vile shade of pink  Unfortunately, not all of the cushions were removable, so we had to live with it for several years until we could acquire another free sofa :D

    Morning Karma et al,

hope all is good with you, have caught up with the blog & am impressed with your 'to do' list. It's lovely & sunny here so I've just had to water all my pots again - I missed my herbs while we were away !

Can I ask a really quick question ? Those of you who don't *do* ironing, do you have a tumble drier (or a decent washing line?)
Even though I try to dry things on hangers, they still need ironing after being dried in the house.

    Sorry for the hijack KC.

I make sure I get things out of the washing machine straight away and give them a really good shake out. Hang them on sturdy clothes horses, well stretched out so they don't dry with creases in (or on radiators in winter). If there are a few creases, I hang things in the bathroom while having a shower and the steam helps. Any small crumply bits left have usually smoothed out by the time it's been worn for a little while. Only very very occasionally resort to ironing!

I have a washing line but it is short. I also have one of these - though I'm sure it didn't cost that much as it seems to be original to the house which is over 100 years. I've only had one house where I didn't have one in my whole life.

I do have a tumble dryer but it is reserved, nowadays, for softening towels at the end of drying or occasional emergencies.

I don't iron. It is against my religion and I will go to the hell where I have to wear knife sharp creases in my jeans if I touch one. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

    Hi Gill,

gotta be honest here I am a bit ocd with clothes & do tend to iron most things if dried indoors. When I did have a dryer though, lots of things didnt' need it. I always hang laundry out if I can & never iron bedding. Never, I tell you ( sorry Souk :p)

Argh! Connectivity issues did me in :( never had that before. I had to resort to sweeping the floor instead  which did need doing, but still  in fact especially  as the amount of my hair on the floor would do a sheep shearer proud :rotfl::o

Anyway! I'm constructing a place for a clothesline. For now, I hang stuff on my drier (a beautifully constructed 19th century thing my mum bought for 90p in Ruthin about 35 years ago :rotfl:). I iron very little - winter weight jeans, one of the new skirts that isn't crinkle dry looks like it will need a rough iron ... thats about it. Any creases that are there when you put the thing on, they soon fall out :D

I wonder what the opposite of ocd is? :o

I'm actually starting work soon, its a phone thing. And I have 4.5 hours today  so I must finishthe sweepy bits and have something to eat... see you later. If anybody invents self ironing clothes while I'm away, don't forget to tell me. Ooh, Lula - my to do list is for a fortnight! And I'm still catching up on the stuff that had to be done before it started :o

Well I tend to take things out of the machine as soon as it finishes. Like Red I shake them out and then hang them up on hangers. If I am on holiday I use the bathroom trick to get the creases out. I also find that once you have the clothes on any creases fall out quite quickly. I have to admit to only becoming like this in the last couple of years and it is quite liberating. My friend irons socks, undies, bedding, tea towels. Her husband gets really irritated by it as he says she is always sitting behind the ironing board. (I think he gets a bit more than irritated to be honest) and I just think life is far too short.
