PS the book is Book 2 of The Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson - I go back to it at least every couple of years and find something new.
Forgot to comment on this - I read the first part of the trilogy when I was in The Mars Society (of course :D) but never got round to the others - must hunt them out, thanks for reminding me.

Karma - is this the material cover or leather one? - the website says they are machine washable - OH says in his previous life the ex just put them in the washing machine - not too warm - XO RT

    Good list of jobs! :T
Gamp! Thats the one :T The list is good, but I didn't quite complete my jobs for yesterday, vacuuuming and sweeping the front, oops. Still, there's wiggle room :D

I'm back to work today, though you'd never know it by what I've done so far - just off to have brekkie now, will start after that.

What is this dry cleaning of which you speak? Sorry, in this house only *really* good work suits get dry cleaned. Everything else goes on a gently wash.

I've just washed my Ikea roman blinds in the bath - then read the instructions (wipe clean only) - but they don't seem to have come to any harm and are now hanging out on the line to dry.

Excellent! More confirmation - actually, I do remember you saying you gently washed even clothes that say dry clean only. Must get my act together - its so long since I had anything that was supposed to be dry cleaned, I've lost the sense of judgement about it.

I've never dry cleaned anything :rotfl: Mind you, I generally try not to buy anything that says dry clean only on it :p and if I do, it'll be from a charity shop, so I figure I'll take my chances... No disasters so far!

I have one *really* good suit - a proper designer make (hand me down from a friend!) and its the only thing that gets cleaned. I draw the line at washing cashmere!

One of my aims is to lose enough weight to be able to wear it again!

No dry cleaning here and no ironing if at all possible never had anyone say I have crumpled clothes so either the people I know are too polite or else ironing is rarely necessary :)

Ditto no dry cleaning her and as little ironing as I can get away with (very rare) I hang most things to dry on hangers and it seems to work a treat. I also wash the cover on my ikea sofa at the flat and it comes up really nice.

People on here are so good! I don't usually buy anything that has to be dry cleaned either, honest, the only exception has been the swish Hobbs dress for the wedding at Easter this year. The covers ... I just made an assumption without checking it out :o tho there's also a worry about the contents of the pads too, to be fair - there again, I might wash those as well, and dry them by putting the heat on for an hour :rotfl:better wait till this immediate heat wave ends, mind you :D

Morning Karma.. I clearly need to catch up on Harry Potter as I have no idea what you're on about :rotfl: Not sure I've ever dry cleaned anything either - hand wash maybe for nice new things for a while, but when they get older they can take their chances in the machine. I did worry slightly about our sofa covers when I washed them recently and they came out looking smaller but they stretched back OK!
