I think there is something to be said for taking baby steps with the solar power. Technology is moving along so fast that prices will come down. I've been an early adopter in more than one technology, to my cost - does anyone remember the Phillips videorecorder?
I've sent you a pm with the web address of the company we used for the solar panel - they specialise in mobile solutions for caravans, boats and motor homes but surely the principle is the same? As Greying said, if you only charged a laptop, that would be a saving though you would want to do an ROI calc first - but you could safely assume hefty rises in fuel costs over the next few years
Have to stop there. My 20 minute alarm has just gone off, telling me to MOVE or I will get stiff. :rotfl::rotfl:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Oh my word! Mind you, wouldn't you pay good money for your lake experience these days? Its called piscoid pedicure or something :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Can I just say for the record, the experimentation was the only thing that I planned doing out of doors, and that was with the bottle, in case it focussed heat too effectively, as Z mentioned?
Even mah jong is boring me now - can't concentrate on anything while the lovelyflooring guys are here - so I've resorted to scanning documents again!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
And I scanned lots! The guys were blithely assuring me, even after they got here, that they'd be done by 11. 12 at the latest. At 1.40, they still hadn't really started the cleanup, tho they had more or less finished, so I started brushing myself - that got them going
- since I had a client at 2, I did actually need to do it - wasn't just teasing them
They *have* done a lovely job - 2 brothers, and their dad was a fitter too, very sweet.
Some phone calls had to be done, and I've got the rest of the day to myself - so sweeping, and more sweeping, and then re-arranging the contents of the entire house, and packing to go away on Saturday. That sort of thingat least the big furniture is back in place tho - and they did it, too, the lambs
I don't want to start! But I have to  And to make myself, I'm actually going to shut the computer down :eek::eek:
:hello: See you later.

And I also found these guys:

If you want to heat your home for years, for just an up-front capital cost, then buy one of these:

Hi Karma,
just popping in briefly to wish you a Happy Holibobs in case I miss you tomorrow.
xx0 -
 why didn't I think of buying a forest
Thanks for the holibob wishes, Lula - hope the time goes well for you too.
Well, yesterday, I was up and down the stairs for about 3 hours, retrieving books from their temporary stash, plus a couple of rugs and whatnot ... v tired!
I've noticed that even with the sealant thats laid round the edge of vinyl these days, there's still a little gap at one bit in the porch - and it just happens to be where there's a tree been let grow within six inches of the house. It was chopped down before I viewed the place, but they didn't kill it (sorry tree) so I have to do that immediately I come back from holibob, or I'll be getting subsidence like those nightmares that Sarah Beeny is currently showing on her new programme.
Today - 3 hours work, roughly, and there's all sorts of things I haven't done - I really need to go into town, go to the bank, [STRIKE]dump off some stuff to the charity shop[/STRIKE] donate my worldly goods to charity, that sort of thing - so that when I come back, I don't have too much of the boring everyday stuff to do.
Still have to have another cup of tea, and a wander round here tho2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Oh! I forgot about that
The kitchen table is newly cleared of books, and I *have* put out the food I'm taking - its a self catering cottage, and my vegetarian/gluten free stuff will probably be thin on the ground
I *know* I can't batch cook sweetie things tho - I bought some yummy treats - white chocolate and macadamia - for the holibob, and I ate them last night:o:o
**sighs** when I get back into cooking, I'll have to do a little treat cook along with all the savoury stuff.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KC - is the not batch cooking sweet stuff because you will eat it straight away?
Or because you can't find anything that doesn't contain gluten and/or dairy?Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
