My brain has been wandering. I've also been thinking about this:
http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/camping-accessories/wilko-shower-solar/invt/0299756/
which I saw on a trawl for something-completely-different. My bathroom has to be gutted, to completely get rid of this mould, and I'm just wondering about whether thats possible, and whether its "wantable" ... I guess I'd better blog about it!
OK,now I'm confused - why the juxtaposition of the solar shower with getting rid of the mould?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

KC - have you seen MG's blog recipies? - She's just done a slew of lentil based ones - brilliant girl cooks up the lentils and stores in the freezer then thaws out with warm water. - They might help with meal plans and the like as most of her recipies are storecupboard based!

Do you mean the solar shower as a permanent feature, or just while it's being gutted?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Hiya! I was having a rootle earlier today - the only one I actually read was non-veggie, as I don't really like soup ... I don't think what she's got up there so far are goers for me, but I'll keep an eye out - Pippi's stuff is more my line

I don't know, tbh, my mind really was wanderingI was looking for water butts ....

Well, if fuel prices go up by 1000% in the next ten years, it might be permanent!
Given that they only work where there's sun, I think showering in your front/back garden is going to give you a reputation..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Yep, a reputation is what I'd call it
When my mind was doodling about solar showers, what I was actually thinking of is how hot it gets in my back windows. If you hang it in the window behind double glazing, then surely something happens? Actually, I could experiment with a bog standard 1.5 litre bottle left over from last year, and paint it black - got plenty of arty type black paint .... could be interesting!
Not done anything about it this evening, obviously! Bit more decluttering of DVD cases , threw out a dozen or so while filing the DVDs... I'll never sell them, secure storage, blah blah, why not? :rotfl:
Another 20 mins of HP7, I think :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Experiment outside first. All convex shapes have a lensing effect, and I'm sure you'd rather not know the hard way that your bottle of water was focussing an invisible infra-red beam onto your curtains..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Oh! I take your point :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: my word, that might be inconvenient - like, burning the house down :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway, 3 hours paid work today, in two pieces, plus I need to finish clearing everything except the big furniture from the living room because the fitters are arriving tomorrow morning. And, ta-da, I'm going to fix my energy today! Even tho my useage is really low, its still not good to think of 20% rises. And eon have just told me that I'm not eligible for the "try then buy" scheme for solar electricity, because of the amount of roof I've got that faces south, so since I inherited them and my current scheme from the previous owner, time to do a rethink.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good luck with sorting out the energy. Every time I've got in the car lately in the hot weather I've thought it would be good for heating water/ cooking things... I have actually been tempted to defrost dinner in there :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Absolutely :rotfl: even if you put something in the oven to warm while something else is cooking, or has finished cooking, its still heat that you've paid for! The only free heat is what comes directly from the sun! There must be a way to use that, and if I can't afford the solar deals that the electricity companies are doing, then I have to find another way. If you used that solar shower water to put in the kettle for instance, I wonder ....
I really should be writing this on my blog, then I'd be less worried about being committed for insanity :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: thought experiments, thats all it is Your Honour, honest
Anyway, I'm doing the dual fuel research at the moment, which is why I'm back on - the nitty gritty of switching bores me rigid, and I hate it, but it *is* essential. I still tend to trust mse when it says "switch/don't switch"... there's one company that *says* it could save me maybe 15%, and its by far the greenest .... interesting. Just about to experiment with other inputs for the research.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
