Ah yes KC there is a difference for me between "what I have done" and "what I am grateful for" as you can see from the work paper. Most I just get done, some I am grateful for managing to get done despite other things. I also try to be mindful! For instance, when I take a walk in the forest with Moo then we potter along and stop to look at things, if I hear the woodpecker I stop and try to see him, I try to be as mindful of all around me as I can. (doesnt always work but I do try). On the other hand I see other dog walkers with their heads down walking fast and treating the walk as if it is something that Must be done, and of course it must, but like so many things in our lives we tend to endure them instead of appreciating even just a small part of it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Ah, new day fresh start!
Hope your conference is interesting today Karmacat, and that any shopping trip is 'fruitful'.
Right, all that happened was that we had invested in a new tent. We decided that as camping is going to be the only way we can afford to holiday, that we would upgrade the tent we have, to one a little bigger (but you immediately have to go alot bigger unfortunately) to enable cooking and comfort - particularly in inclement weather.
This weekend was our 'test pitch'. We could not of picked better, as last evening it bucketed it down - starting just as we attached the footprint to the ground :rotfl:Considering we'd not put this type of tent up before, and given the rain, we did really well and didn't fall out ...... much. It was put up, looked the business, had already got one favourable comment (in a brief moment when it stopped raining and people emerged from tents/caravans to check out the 'newbies'). It started to rain again, and we were dismayed to find the rain just pouring in at one side of the tent. The fabric either wasn't sealed properly at the seam, or, more likely, a whole strip of tent fabric wasn't proofed correctly - as the tent leaked badly on one side and had started on the other in the same location.
So, today is going to be spent ringing up the camping shop, arranging a replacement flysheet (we'll give the tent type one more chance), deconstructing the faulty tent and possibly going on a 100 mile round trip ending up with a tent pitching exercise at the end of it :rotfl: See how a pootle round a NT property was sedate in comparison.
However, I am grateful that we were surrounded by swooping swallows last night (such a lovely colour), the kindness and generosity of the campsite proprietors and to of seen an intense rainbow, with a shadowy sibling shining beside it. The campers with lottery tickets were seeing that double rainbow as a good omen and arguing what they'd buy with their winnings!
Right, better go off and get ready to have a bit of a faffy day.

Thanks! :j Trainers and summer weight chinos ... I only have one of each, and the soles of my trainers are paper thin and have holes :rotfl:and even for me, one pair of trousers for daily wear isn't quite enough.

Oh my word! Thank heavens you did a test run! I guess that nowadays, I'd have practised putting it up, but I'd never have thought to check the waterproofing ... hope you can get it sorted.
Pasta is on for my snack to take with me... got to check the trains now, quick quick2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hope that you enjoy the conference. Sorry to confuse about the work paper. What I meant is that normally I just recognise it as an achievement but that particular paper I was grateful to see the end of it!! Hope that makes a bit more sense. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Thanks Cheri! I couldn't find where you'd referred to it, and decided I'd better not scroll up and down any more
in fact, I got to my meeting by the skin of my teeth, too - train got in 5 mins before it started  smaller than usual, and no seminar afterwards which is whats happened before. It all seems to be in a real mess financially, tho there's enough reserves and enough measures they can take to pull through. And I seem to have volunteered to serve on the commitee **shock**
In practice this means one meeting a month - sometimes a Saturday when there's a meeting anyway, sometimes an evening stuffing newsletters into envelopes... it means connecting with people from all over this county who are doing work similar to mine for the next 5 years. And, erm, it means membership and attendance at seminars is free, apparently:o:o I had decided to volunteer anyway, honest, tho kind of spontaneously - I've been mouthy at the AGM for years (in a good way
- e.g. today, when the chair person thanked the secretary, I spoke up and said to the secretary, please make sure the vote of thanks is recorded in the minutes - secretaries of that sort being notoriously reserved). Tho I ask questions and disagree when I do, of course...
And I bought some new trainers, thank heavens! £20 at a *proper* sports shopplus a barbie pink t shirt for 99p on offer cos I bought something. Tried to buy the chinos too, but I was tired, and overwhelmed by the sheer busy-ness of these particular shops. Very chuffed with the trainers, I really *need* them
Ethical dilemma: coming back, I was walking past the flower display at my local rail station, and some yob had pulled out one of the pink geraniums and just thrown it onto the soil. I looked for the hole it had been pulled from, but couldn't find it - and it was really dry, it wouldn't have lasted till the next visit from the maintenance people. And the pink was so pretty (not barbie, but delicate). So, erm, I put it in my plastic bag. I talked to it on the way home, and when I got in I put it into some water. Just now, I'm off to pot it up and let it rest a bit... did I rescue it, or did I steal it? If you vote for stealing, please don't ring your police station!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Trust you! But thank you one and all - thats a relief! I've not been out to check on her this morning yet, but it looks like she's doing okay. And so are my comfrey cuttings from GPespecially since I sprinkled broken egg shells on their soil in their pots - stopping the slugs
Another gardening one: I *still* haven't planted all my plants in pots. Should I stop now, or try to plant a few - I'm thinking of this week's holiday from Saturday next, whether they'll have a better chance in the ground or in their pots?
Hmmm, today ... a few bits to do in the kitchen, its really worked having a "maintenace" list in the kitchen, I'm pleased with how its gone. But I'm actually meaning to do as little as possible, there's a thingy going on at the local park this afternoon, and I shall pop along to that.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
