I'm glad you mentioned it, don't worry (the mattress topper). Carpetright have huge posters in their windows advertising that they sell beds, and I never noticed when I was up for buying one
:o:o
Got to laugh at the percentage story when the prices got put up :rotfl: crying otherwise :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC, I know you complained to the matress company but have you tried trading standards, its sounds like the matress is not up to standard and you are in no way a big lump to put a dent in the mattress! One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!
2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.
Total £9.120 -
I agree with the above as the mattress is obviously faulty0

especially as the mattress company, Harrison Spinks, refused to answer my letters at all, just like their member of staff stopped talking to me in my own home, and walked out. Trading Standards said its my word against theirs, so I could take the time to complain, but the outcome was very, very doubtful

There's nothing else I can do
To other matters :j I don't like talking about the mattress, its very upsetting. I've done another kitchen job, a little one, the cooker and the shelves etc are drying out, and I went into the garden then to cut things back - realised that my mum is staying for a few days in August, and the ivy in the front needs to be cut back again, and the leaves gathered in a corner bagged and left to rot
Then I went a walk
Hope everyone has a nice evening.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Mr KC
Do you know how confuzzled I was?

Been away from MSE a few days but couldn't figure out where he'd come from!
Took a while to find the post where you explained it - obviously catching up on blogs on a Friday evening is NOT the way to go!!! - speed reading turns into skip-over-it reading!!!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Sorry I have been MIA in action all week, life got in the way.
Oh it was a Games night rather than a quiz night, that sounds fun! We used to have a pub that had a Trivial Pursuit nights each Tuesday, it got really popular and went from a few people, to a few tables to Team on each table before the knocked it on the head as it took up too much room and they couldn't find enough room to serve food as well.Greying_Pilgrim wrote: »MatyMoo - thanks ever so for posting that linkie! It does indeed look like a fabulous event. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it for this weekend, but you can bet that it has been logged as a future possible/probable!! Whilst it's a pity that it's every couple of years - I appreciate that it's probably alot of hard work involved in the organisation of it, so it'll be worthwhile trying to ensure we get to the next one! Blimey, at this rate, with the Crawley FF, Music on the Moor and West Dean Chilli festival - i'll be ending up spending June, July and August in the bottom right hand corner of Great Britain - now that's a plan!!
We could turn it in to the MSE Music TourI shall just have to go and check it out as a venue over the next couple of days
Loving the talk on changing priorities and Taxi, your post was wonderful :T We really should stop and think about what we have to be grateful for NOW. I think it is Cheri that writes down 3 things she is grateful for each day, maybe more of us should do it to remind us how lucky we really are.
Glad I hadn't skimmed through or I would have been going  at Mr KC :rotfl:
The talk of Swifts took me back to the house I grew up in, they used to swoop in to the eaves of the garage every evening. Thank you for the memory :T
I think I would have wimped out of cleaning the oven and got the professionals in. I have seen a few people advertising this service.
And I shan't mention the thing you are supposed to sleep comfortably on as you find it upsetting.
Have a great weekend everyone!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Yep, it is I that does the 3 things that I am grateful for. Today it will be
- the Jersey cows that have arrived in the field and have the sweetest faces, the biggest most sultry eyes and the longest eyelashes. They are very curious and tomorrow I am heading back with my camera, I just hope that they are still there.
- finishing a paper for work that has been hanging around forever
- Coco learning the tune from Antiques Roadshow and singing it when I was trying to have a telephone conference
The swifts used to nest in the eaves in my old house. It was a swift that swooped on me in the forest that brought back the memory for me. Total peace and relaxation flooded over me and I realised that this is the kind of moment that should be savoured. I came home and blogged about it immediately. Tonight it was bats swooping in over the stream, reminded me of the bats swooping when I was pegging washing out in my old house. I lived in the middle of a built up industrial town and now I see just how much nature was around me when I was longing to live in the country. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Thank you Maty Moo for stepping into the breach and volunteering to do extensive 'field' research on all our behalfs!I hope you have a wonderful weekend at the festival.
The fact that I am here posting this, rather than where I should of been, ie in a field and 'pooterless', says an awful lot about how my weekend has started! Tomorrow is set to get alot more interesting than the pootle around a NT property that I'd got planned. Ho hum......:)
GreyingPounds for Panes £7,705/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023
Grocery Spend August 2025 £310.99/£300
Non-food spend August 2025 £15.55/£50
Bulk Fund August 2025 £31.82/£100 -
Uh oh, Greying, that doesn't sound good. "Interesting" in those terms sounds a little too close to the Chinese curse "may you live in interesting times". Hope you're okay, come back when you can

Blimey! Well thats a pub that didn't know good business when it saw it! Yes, ours is just four people sitting around in a living room nattering, and playing children's games
.......

I couldn't face spending money on that, when there's so much else that needs doing. There's some cooking dirt thats kind of ground in, but all the stainless steel is clean, and all the dirt on the oven liner itself thats going to come off, has come off. I've left it to dry till now, and this evening I'll put all the shelving and gubbins back in

This is lovely, Cheri. I do think of things to be grateful for as I see them - actually, I haven't been doing that recently, its just been "what I've done", it would help me to go back to "gratefulness", I think.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hmmm, what shall I do today? :rotfl: actually I know perfectly well what I'm going to do today: I'm going to go to the AGM of my local counselling organisation, and use the time beforehand to wander about doing shopping.
ETA :eek::eek: I just checked the time on the counselling website and it starts at 10am!!! Never thought it might be the morning  Ah well, it gives me the afternoon to play :j but I really had better be going soon :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0
