I've had 3 different printers, and out of all of them, my current one HP photosmart all-in-one is my favourite.

I found Lexmark replacement ink to be pricy, and my epson had buggy software. I've had my HP for nearly 2 years now, without any probs.

Have phoned them and e-mailed and got replies, placed an order but someone tried to use my card on a telecom site so its been cancelled before the order was processed.

Will correct that tomorrow and re-order, will let you know how it goes

I really cannot recommend an Epson. I had so many problems with mine. My mum was adamant that was the way she was going, but I persuaded her to get a HP, and she's delighted with it.

I have this model here. Loads of good deals to be had. Amazon often have the cartridges for mine (350,351) reduced. Do not buy from WHSmith though as they are really expensive from there.

The ink seems to last twice as long as other cartridges. I had a message telling me my ink was low for the past 6 months, but its only just noticeable now.

I'd better go and order some ink now. :D

OOOOOOOOOOOOops, just notice your second tab on "deals" the epsom I was looking at is even cheaper on amazon at £32.00 compared to £40.00 at argos.

The cartidges seem to be the same prices as epsom though

  • I scrapped my Lexmark All-in-one for an Epson after someone showed me the ink prices, but I had terrible problems with the Epson clogging up because I'm only a very light user (I tend to print in bursts - several dozen pages every three or four weeks rather than spread out evenly).

I then got a Brother AIO (separate inks again) for £35 in a Staples sale and it's been great for about 2 years using compatibles bought on eBay (B/C/Y/M pack for £3 and lasts me about 6 months (about 120 pages at a guess)).

The paper feeder is giving up the ghost, though - I'm looking for a replacement which will take heavier feedstocks through a vertical feeder; I'll certainly buy Brother again if I can find one which does it.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

hey, i bought my new printer today. I settled for the all-in-one Epson stylus SX415. It has to be the most easiest printer I ever installed. The instructions were on a idiot guide, for installation, and the installing of the cartidges was displayed on the nice screen. I paid £39.99 from argos.

If you buy this product, remember to keep the usb lead from your old printer, as you will need it for this one. I did a test for copying and printing, and it went well. I also registered my printer online (I was prompted) as it claims to give updates to the printer online.

    well worth buying :)
