So, Le Weekend...
Wasn't due to work yesterday but had loads to do so went in anyway. Four hours of overtime in the bag, woo! I have bought two newspapers this weekend and received two Dr Who audiobooks for my troubles, so very pleased indeed with that.
The eating has been very MSE this weekend. Yesterday was slow-cooked venison chops (free - gift from Papa Fresian) with winter veg (50p stewpack from Morrisons) and was very tasty indeed. Today I boiled a gammon shank and threw in a pack of yellow split peas which I'm going to liquidise in the morning to make pea and ham soup. The ham was tasty and I'm sure the soup will be awesome. I hope so - it's going to be lunch tomorrow
Budgets for the month are looking ok. I am within budget on groceries despite spending nearly £40 in Aldi today (I know, who knew it was possible?!) but the freezer is now full of yummy low-cost meat and we'll have good eating for a few weeks out of it.
For anyone who was wondering - True Grit is a cracking film and you should all go and see it. I went today and had an excellent time
Nighty night all!

Morning folks
I'm finding it quite hard to post at the moment as I never seem to have anything interesting to say. I am doing a lot of overtime at the moment though (essential work, not as voluntary as it normally is) so I'm knackered all the time. I think that has a lot to do with it.
I'm taking Friday off this week so have a long weekend to look forward to. Sadly I booked it thinking this weekend was the big craft show at the SECC in Glasgow. That's next weekend. When I'm working. D'oh! I'm still going to go, but on the Sunday not the Saturday. That's going to be my Big Treat for myself for the first half of the year. I'm going to use the money in my VSP I think, which is sitting at £245 (Ok, I won't use all of it, but quite a bit!) and then use the VSP to save up for the one in October.
Otherwise, money situation is thus on the day before payday:
PAD - £0
Entertainment - £18.20
Groceries - £0
ISA - £881.82
VSP - £245.17
My ISA is going to take a hit next month as I have to pay the car tax/insurance. I'm going to PAD what I can for that, including all of what I hope will be Mr Fresian's sister's last month's rent, but I think I will still be hit with around a £300 amount to come out of the ISA. Bah!
Right, going to get myself ready for work. Have a good day all

On the basis that in previous years I have relied on having a bonus with which I can pay my tax and insurance, and this year I don't know if I am getting one, I have opened a new savings account this morning.
I'm getting a paltry 2.5% interest on it, but that's better than nothing. I am going to make a regular payment into it - probably around £50 per month - and will figure out how much that will be when I get paid tomorrow.

'Tis payday, and for the first time in a really long time I have no overtime to fall back on in my paypacket. Bah.
I get paid a wee bit less than I thought - I've always had overtime/additional payments to pad it out a bit so it's a bit of a pain.
Current money situation is therefore:
PAD/Spends - £160
Groceries - £144.77 (Normally £180 per month but had "borrowed" from this month's budget to stock up on meat from Aldi when I had a £5 off voucher)
Entertainment - £68.20
ISA - £884.26
Car fund - £40
I have £136 saved to pay towards my credit card which has a balance of £121. I'm therefore "ahead" as I'm trying to build up my credit card account so I can put the road tax on there. My statements are generated on the 27th of the month, so I'm going to get the road tax done on the 26th (Saturday) as it shouldn't hit the credit card account until the Monday. That will give me another month's billing cycle to get that money together.
Car insurance looks like it's going to be over £400 for 3rd party  I'll put that on my card too and repay it ASAP. Mr Fresian's sister's rent will cover most of it, leaving me about £120 to find overall. If worst comes to worst I'll take it out of my ISA, but I would rather find the money from other means like Ebay/selling some cards.
I thought about not paying into the car fund this month as funds are tight, but I need to get in the way of thinking of this as a necessary financial expense sooner rather than later. It's going to have to be a tight budget month in Fresian Towers....only 28 days until next payday
In better news, I am off to spend money next week :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I booked my tickets to the craft show at the SECC so am off with a friend. We're getting the train through on Sunday morning, heading craftwards then getting lunch in Pizza Express with our vouchers. Anything I spend will be withdrawn from my VSP which is my "me" money for the year. I'll then start building it up again for the big show in October
Better get ready for work. I'm off out with friends tonight for dinner - we go to the Toby Carvery once a month and if you use a voucher this month it's £5.49 for dinner and pudding :money:

F_F, is that the same craft fayre we went to last year - where we didn't even once bump into each other! My sister did say they had another one but it seems to have came round really quick. I've got all my stuff for my invites (I think) so don't think will make this one. Have fun, I'm sure you'll come home loaded with stuff.0
