Thank you jayjay & boysma. It is lovely knowing I've done it at long last. I [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] had been in debt for 20 years (more than half of my lifetime) and I suppose I really started tackling the problem properly in 2007 after a few half hearted and failed attempts.
I thought I'd feel really happy but I just feel exhaustedbut then I have worked like stink to get the bonus (it's all based on turnover & profitability so all those 50+ hour weeks have paid off!) We're off on holiday on Tuesday so I'm really looking forward to the rest.
I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -

Hope you're feeling much better now Erme, sorry to hear you've been having a tough time of things.
What an odd couple of weeks - all those bank holidays created havoc with the bank balances, it didn't update for ages. The good news is I must have done super-well at work as my bonus was more than I expected. I had to wait for the whole bank holiday bank things to settle down and I took some money out of savings but I've done it. Yesterday I paid my credit card off. Today I am debt-free for the first time in 20 years.
