I personally find the challenge really motivating. Lots of people have lower budgets than me (Mine is £10,000 for everything apart from the mortgage) but they are also better at frugalising than meEach person on the challenge cuts their cloth according to their circumstances, and I find it really supportive.
I started the challenge last year but just wasn't ready for it. This year, I felt more in control of my finances, and am putting all monies saved into my ISA to try and build up an emergency fund. I'm doing pretty well, if I do say so myself :rotfl:0 -

You see I find the opposite..I find I get examined over least little spend I put on there and it all becomes a tad too pressurized then I leave and go and do a major whoopsie.....(think Macbook).... I don't deal well with pressure...I find the whole 'I've had 101 NSD's this month and only spent £25 on the kids all month (yet £250 on the pets)' a whole contradictory.. and I nevermanage as many NSD's as everyone else cos it's not really that healthy for me right now..
For some folk it works and good on them but no, not for me....
So that's an alternative on the frugal living challenge. Okay so I've had some pretty bad experiences on there...but even so.....It's not all rosey..there is cyber bullying at times etc....
Hope this hasn't upset any one...tell me if it has an I'll delete it. Like F_F says you have to be ready for it

I think it depends on how you view the challenge. The first time I did it I was very intimidated as some people seem to live on fresh air and nettle soup :rotfl:
Thankfully I'm looking at it this time as frugal for me, which isn't what everyone else would see as frugal. Some people don't consider a smartphone to be an essential spend for example, but I love my HTC so that has to be in my budget
As long as it keeps me focussed on budgeteering and not going totally off the rails now I'm debt-free, I'll be happy!0 -
