haha no the whole thing literally collapsed on me into broken peices! When we went back to just buy the frame again (only £50 for the bit I broke) the fella said that it happens all the time cos the instructions tell you to lift it up but your meant to attach something first then lift it. Was glad I wasnt the only one that did it though! Ikea should word their instructions better though!

Suits me now as it will be easier to transport the glass doors while they are still in the box to the new house then when I get some savings going will replace the broken frame - for now me and my HM have been using drawers for the last 2 years and have coats lying all over the house lol
Life is what you make it.
• Hi everyone,
I have had my 1st NSD of the year :j A nice quiet, lazy day in the house with my parents watching alot of crap TV!! :D

OK, a little post to show how far I have come – I love to read, I read alot and while babysitting last week one of the kids had been given a Kindle for Christmas and I had a play with it and found reading from it just as easy as a book.
I now WANT an e-reader  I could easily go get 1 NOW and put it on my Credit Card or use half of my house savings for a month BUT that would defeat the new improved saving me :D
SO here is my 4 point plan to get one!!

~ My birthday is in June – I get mostly money from my relatives which works out about £80/£90. I am going to put said money in an envelope and give it to my mum for safe keeping. For Christmas ask my parents for the e-reader, they usually spend about £100 each on us, so with that and my birthday money I will be able to get one, and I will hopefully not have to add anything to it. :D
~ Ebay until I have the money then buy one. :T
~ Use my VSP as its my treat myself account! (when it has the funds in it)
OR
~ A combination of 2 or all 3 of these :D

Hi Palema (working with kids I think I know what your real name is) ;):rotfl::p

I am qualified Nursery Nurse myself although never quite got into nurseries, ending up in secondary schools and primary's with kids with SEN. I left working last year to childmind but ended up falling right over on my behind financially and ended up bankrupt. We lost our home too.

I too want to begin saving for a mortgage and will be following your diary with interest.. and support when I slip into my own frittering ways :o

Hi Miche
My user name is the most common kids variation of my name!! :D
I've been in 3 Private nurseries since I qualified 12 and half years ago, where I am now for nearly 9 years. My SIL worked in a SN school before she went on Mat leave with my niece.

I am hoping to stay focused and save as much as I can for my house deposit
Good luck with your house savings :)

Hey Palema!

I love your diaries! Your story is pretty much the exact same as mine although I'm a few years behind. I, like you, had the parents bail me out far too much and maxed out credit cards on more than one occasion! Why on Earth can we not just learn from our mistakes first time round!

Just a wee thought on your house saving plan...I bought my flat 4 years ago when I was 20. Got it on one of the Shared equity deals (although it's not the one where you only own 25% and you have to pay rent on the other 75% - I got a mortgage for 50 or 51% and signed an agreement with the developer saying that when I sell I will give them 49/50% of what I sell for - or I have the option to get the other half at any time too so I only actually pay half of what it would normally cost). I was surprised at how easy it was (although maybe my Dad being a Mortgage Advisor helped) but one of the terms of the mortgage was that all my credit cards were paid off (can't remember how much they were at the time but I never paid them off and they never even checked!) Mortgage was through Halifax for about £65k. I only pay interest only and that's £188 (I've rounded up to £200 though).

Anyway, I'm sure there are still deals like that going about and always will - might help you get your home quicker and they're always nice brand new places which is always good!

Palema, I have to say my hubby got me a Kindle 3G Wi-fi for my xmas, and its the best piece of kit I have got. I am a big reader and have a huge library of books. This kindle fits into my handbag and I have about 50 books on it already!!!:D

Here's another plus - Kindle books off Amazon are cheaper than buying the actual book!!!:T

I LOVE IT!!

Subscribing to your diary BTW.

Hey Lisa
Thanks for the advice :)
I have looked into Shared Equity and I think I will wait and see what deposit I have by half way through 2012 before deciding what I am going to do!

Hi Romylou
I don't know if I want a Kindle or an e-reader like Sony where you can buy e-books from anywhere I have been reading reviews on both - I may even go with another make when the time comes, enjoying doing the research just now and seeing what people think of them :)
Thanks for looking in on my diary :)
