The news is making me sooo sad. :( I can't believe all this stuff that's going on, the country has gone mad.

My friend was contacted by the police at work and told they have in on good authority that the madness is going to spread to us tonight. In Manchester it's already well underway according to my friends. :( I just don't get it. And looking at the interviews the people doing it don't even get it either.

Makes my worrying about moving seem a bit silly. But then, if it does start at home (local news have cleverly decided to announce all our blooming police are going to London!) my house is right in the path of where I imagine the destruction would be. Hope you are all keeping safe. x

I hope everyone is ok. I'm just north of London and so went through last night what you are going through tonight. It was scary although we weren't directly affected.

I think they want to show the "rich people". Well if all the rich people leave, who is going to pay their benefits?

And, yes, it certainly does put everything in perspective. My main worry before last night was to stop our best salesman leaving the company I work for, however when everything kicked off last night, I just thought that I didn't really care if he stayed or left, there were more important things in life.

I just saw about manchester on facebook, i have a few friends there. Although its distressing in london its kind of accepted with it being the capital, but when it spreads, especially up north its scary. Definately an air of hostility everywhere today :(

Just to say hope all went ok last night. I was really glad to have a quiet night in London, but not happy to hear about Manchester and surrounding areas.

Re: house situation, I think there is not much point in being MF in a house you hate living in. You are only 30 so have many working years ahead of you to get another mortgage and pay it off (and no doubt you'll pay that off in no time too!). If the house is stopping you live your life the way you want, it is not being selfish at all to consider your options. Of course it is good to think about all of the 'what ifs', but if there were 20% interest rises there'd be most of the nation repossessed before you, and that cannot be allowed to happen by which ever government is in power.

On my relaxation course the women asked me 'what would you do if there wasn't any fear?'. It was a powerful question, and helped me identify what my priorities and true wants are. All I need to do now is work out how to make them happen!

Thanks guys. I shall use all this comments in discussion with my DH. Really hope the builder guy wants it. Fingers crossed.

Everything was ok last night thankfully and I have high hopes for the rain keeping things at bay for now.

Did I miss something? Who is this builder guy you mention?

Hope the discussion with DH is productive. :)

The builder guy is some guy where we live thats been buying up some of the houses.

However, thats kinda irrelevant now. DH just got the call that he's lost his DJing job. We thought he might ages ago but then everything settled down. This has come out of the blue. It's £540 less per month. I'm being strong for my DH and playing it down but I'm really frightened. Do not know how we make up £540 per month.

Looks like I have no choice but to tutor now - if I can get my Head to agree to letting me use my classroom after hours that is. I hope he will. I'm thinking £25 per hour or £20 per hour if you book a block of 6 and pay in advance. Does that sound reasonable?

I don't know how to make more money. I was mystery shopping but the time and effort just doesn't add up. ARGH! I feel well stressed now, moving seems the last thing on my mind.

I know we can save money on our food bill, and I'm sure I can save money on luxuries (i.e. wine) but I'm stumped after that. :( We are on a good rate for our gas and electric, and insurances. We might have to stop OPing the mortgage now...this is really disappointing. :(

I need to get a grip though. In light of resent events we are still very lucky. The bottom line is making sure DH can stay in Wales and do his PhD. Although it does mean we might not be able to see each other every week now which is upsetting. :(
