Thanks Cath, nice to have you on here.
I've been looking through right move and local estate agents for prices of houses where I am. It looks as though the housing slump has hit here. Houses like ours are going for between 69'999K and 79'999K. We currently have an outstanding mortgage that you can see in my signature. The house we are interested in says offers over £149'999. I would argue that it's an ambitious price. It's been on since christmas and has had little interest - it's a beautiful house though I might add.
We have some work to do on ours (father inlaw is back to do it over summer - yey). So fingers crossed we can get a wriggle on with the selling after that.
I'm a bit skint at the minute so it might give me time (fingers crossed) to save up money for EA's etc. I hope anyway.
Right, going to do some school stuff now - I'm such a saddo. Ha ha.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Aww I love it when new people comment.
Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, and makes me feel less like I'm talking to myself. Ha ha.
Right since DH got me up rudely early in a grumpy bad mood I figure I may as well be productive. So the plan is to sort all the washing out and hang out more to dry. Take Belle out and clean the kitchen. Might think about the study tomorrow. Yawn.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

What sorts of things do I have to save up for with regard to a house move? I've got a while to save up - but want to start setting money aside (or planning to set money aside) now!
Stamp duty (I think1% upto 250k)
legal fees 1k +
Est agent fees around 2%
Removals, 500 quid to the sky
a fund for doing nice things in the new house
Survey money 1k ish for a decent one. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Are all of those things you pay before the move? Thanks for that, its a good list. Is 2% the standard rate now rather than 1%?Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Conveyancing solicitors usually want some money up front, then you pay the balance of it, plus the stamp duty, to the sol just before completion when you hand over any deposit money that you're adding to the equity you have in the house that you're selling. The estate agent you're buying through will want proof of funds (ie where the money's coming from, mortgage agreement etc) before they'll progress the sale.
PS What is it about the house that makes you love it?Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Bolded are the ones I have had to pay upfront. Is 2% the standard rate now rather than 1%?
Depends on what you can negotiate/how saleable your house is. DH just paid a little over 2% to sell MIL's flat, but SIL CBA to negotiate. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Can't tell you what it is I love about the house as such. It's in a little village on the tops near the Lancashire yorkshire boarder, so countryside on your doorstep. It's down a dead end so very quiet. Had a garden, garage, utility room and ensuite. All things I've always wanted. And its near my friends and much closer to work. It's a place for middle class families. Where I live at the minute is a busy terraced street, with lots of traffic. Lots of students and very noisey with high crime rate. Not near my friends. It's a 30 min drive to countryside. And we don't have enough room for all our stuff!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
