I get fed up of trying to think of ways to use up overripe bananas, as eldest son wont eat them when they get past a certain stage of ripeness, but need them in the house, as he would eat one per day if right ripeness!
Our lodger makes banana bread with hers, but my answer to excess bananas is always....

    Flapjacks!
    Flapjacks!
    Flapjacks!

    :D
  • I won't be spending a penny today (northerners, I will go to the toilet!) so today is my first day of not spending a thing. Is that a NSD?

I've made rice pudding in the slow cooker which was yum.

I have to broach the subject of packed lunches as opposed to buying his lunches for work to Mr frugalbrunette*bald* I imagine that is going to be a struggle this evening.

    Yep :D
Though most people on the NSD challenge don't include D/Debits and other regular bill payments anyway - only things they hit the shops for (including on-line stores)

Only tried that once - total disaster, which I'm in no hurry to repeat :o

Brunette, why a struggle? I think showing the volume of money that is spent is a bit of a sweetner.

However, in saying that I am off to meet someone for lunch off my course before the exam. I might have found a pizza express half price voucher otherwise I am searching for the cheapies. Tomorrow will be a spend day :( i will take my own water tho as rummaging through the cupbs found a spare empty water bottle.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I've been working on a printout of the statement and have highlighted all his spends for lunches and snacks while at work. Nearly £20 a week. He'll be shocked I know that but the misses' sandwiches and granola bars aren't quite the same as a hot beef sandwich or curry and chips ;)

He'll accept it. He knows we have to try harder to make ends meet.

hi everyone, yesterday was a spendy day 14quid exactly, (4.23 on groceries, the rest on craft items, which were on sale, and on my list.) but grumble, the craft shop didnt honour the 'BOGOF' so i've paid twice for something - i'd have only got 1 otherwise... so i'll have to phone them. i wonder how often this sort of thing happened that i didnt know about before i througherly checked my reciepts?

also, sorry but i've had to start skim reading as else i'd never get anything else done... hummm... is that how you all have so many NSDs... you're all on here instead of at the shops?! ;)

Im glad he didnt look at me and think "look at her mother" as the advice is as my mum is a crazy spendaholic who is not without her challenges too :)

um, my fiance has admitted to thinking twice about dating me coz my mother is actually quite crazy, and not in a 'nice' way. i'm glad he decided i was worth it :)

I would love to do this challenge but don't feel quite ready so if you don't mind I'll read and learn this year.

Well done to everybody who is braver than me and has committed!

i thought about just lurking, but decided even just trying for a few months would help no end and then i'd know where my money was going and that can only help me when i almost certainly loose my job. already thanks to the spreadsheet i've been forced to realising quite how much some things cost, like my mobile, when added up over the year. just do what you can. it's all good.
