Thanks f_f but I'm ashamed to say I cant do what you ahve suggested.I'm computer illiterate, well not totally but nearly, I shall ask my brother how to do as you say when I next see him. In Janet and John words how can I save your post so he can read it?

Click on the number of my post (top-right) which is #2469. Go to Bookmarks at the top of the page (above Martin's head) and then "Bookmark this page"

That should save it for him.
  • Patentgirl sorry about your shock news. Hopefully you find something soon and it proves to be more rewarding
Jayne sorry it didn't work out but glad it ended well.

Well this morning had planned to come on here to report January not too bad apart from an unexpected car bill for DDs car for £109, TV licence DD going out today and only saved £15 towards that but all a drop in ocean after today called into meeting at lunchtime being made redundant total shock come complete out of blue totally stunned at news dont know how we will cope as DH was made redundant last year he did find another job but alot lower pay purse strings will have to be tightened again! I will get some redundancy money so that is something x

Big, big (((Hugs))) patentgirlI think there are a few of us who know exactly what this feels like. It's a huge shock.

They've asked for volunteers for redundancy and early retirement at my place. I think they'll get enough this year, but next year will be a different matter. Having been made redundant once before, I now keep a savings buffer and a well stocked storecupboard. I also keep one set of clothes for things like interviews. Sounds pessimistic but actually it works well having a smart jumper, jacket, skirt, shoes etc. that you have ready in the cupboard at short notice. I just have to make sure I don't grow out it :rotfl:

A low spend day for me yesterday. I broke and went to the charity shop and bought 2 jigsaws. The £2 came out of my pocket money :D

JayneC, re the cc debt – I think this is the best thing to do, I’m trying to reduce my cc debt as quickly as I can too. The interest charged is always far more than you can get if you save the money, and hopefully you will not have any big unexpected expenses.

patentgirl, keep your spirits up. I don’t know what you do for a living but are you in a pension scheme? I know some organisations give an enhanced pension for anyone made redundant if they are over 50.

23rdspiral, grrr, that is very cheeky of them but glad you are getting some hours so you're not spending petrol money for nothing. Hope you enjoyed the choccy. :) Hope you'll be ok - I know that jangly mess feeling very well! Take care hon. x

((((((Jayne)))))) and fingers crossed for you that it goes ok giving the bad news. It feels horrible doing it but at least you're not keeping him dangling - much better for both of you in the long run.

Erme - hope you're ok after your stressful encounter in the PO - and well done on selling the Kindle. What will you do with the money you get for it? x

Hope everyone else is ok - I too have seen more and more mentions of redundancy, paycuts etc and my heart goes out to everyone facing it. xxx

Thanks for all the good wishes on my derriere of a day.....I've put my foot in it by not getting a proper sleep so now with all the stress and lack of energy past few weeks am seriously contemplating cancelling my Glasgow excursion (2 days - I'll be whacked and prime material for psych unit after 1 LOL) cos whilst there's a 50:50 chance of getting admitted - yes there's a possibility I might actually have a fab time - I don't like the odds. 30:70 to being admitted and I'd still go...not 50:50.. I know what tiredness does to me at the best of times...it's not good. Really folks...

Anyhow the chap whom I sold the kindle to was really nice when I said I'd missed the PO and ranted @ him about the lady...so helped. Kindle money has gone straight on debt - everyone remember what a pounding (poor thing) my OD took last month? Exactly...och a few card blanks for my card making thingie...

So today bare minimum chores wise (probably won't even get around to writing on the little things thread)....

Is Home Bargains the shop we've all been raving about lately? I know I'm being a hypocrite and not scrolling back to older posts. Please forgive me. I just only half paid attention cos I didn't think we had one here, yet discovered one down the beach retail park yesterday - though after the cabbage battle didn't have time to pop in.

Hugs for those who are being like the weather today - derriere's abounding...
