A friend of mine's brother is a pilot for Virgin. He has said that recently the Airline have become a nightmare to work for, increasing pilots flying ours dramatically, to, in his own worse 'dangerous levels'.
Where he was doing 3 or4 long haul flights a month he is now scheduled for at least 7. The pilots arent happy with this and believe the increased flying hours is compromising safety.
Mmmmmmm. Fly to Vegas on Monday, sit round the pool for a few days with pretty cabin crew, fly back home for the weekend. Repeat. Sounds tough.

And flying mostly on Autopilot or letting the Co Pilot do the work.

    Must be a real pain:cool:

Compare it to those poor sods flying Easyjet/Ryanair......how many times a day do they fly there and back to Malaga/Milan/Montpellier etc.

    Hi all,
First time poster - long time lurker!

Me and my OH are off to Vegas on 23rd June for a week, staying at the Mirage. We booked the complete package with Virgin (flying direct from Manchester). I think we got a fairly good deal but I wish I'd found this forum before we booked it!! We're paying just short of £1k each for the full trip which includes transfers and the resort fee (I emailed them to confirm that it was included).

Our rooms are 'Deluxe' rooms with strip views and I'm thinking of maybe trying to get an upgrade to a 'Tower Deluxe' room but I've read somewhere that ALL the Tower Deluxe rooms are non-smoking. Can anyone confirm this? We're both smokers. If they are, I may have to be really cheeky and try to get an upgrade to a suite!

Thanks to all the contributers to this thread, it is truely a must read for anyone going to vegas!! (I just wished I found it before we booked!!) with help from this thread, I've got a few rcom vouchers (including Stripburger), a groupon discount for Scootcity Tours and numerous vouchers!!! :j

Also, it looks like the Mirage currently has a 72hour sale on for anyone interested!

    Thanks,
    chipuk

Anyone give me an opinion of Bally's?

My wife's just got a week off at the start of July and their rates look very good for the start of that month and flights direct on Virgin are coming in at around £600 a head.

It'll be a first trip to LV, just need somewhere to sleep really that's not too loud, the pictures on their site look not too bad, but I guess that they would !!

We would be looking to go for 5 days, is that too long for the $20 trick to work ?? (what about if you try with a fifty !!).

Maybe a stupid question here but..

Flying with Continental to vegas (from Dublin) tomorrow morning. Should I check in online now? I mean I'll have to go to desk with luggage anyway and I'll be at the airport in plenty of time. I do have seats picked out but unsure whether they're guaranteed or not

I'd always check-in now, you can sort all the details on your API and you avoid the grief of turning up to check-in if there are system problems. It also uses up a couple more minutes of the time you are spending waiting to go to Vegas baby!

if it's anything like Virgin, you have to check-in online in advance to guarantee your chosen seats:

"Where you have pre-assigned a seat online, check in needs to be completed no later than 2 hours before departure time to enable us to honour this request. The exception are flights out of London Heathrow, when check in must be completed 13 hours prior to departure to retain pre-assigned seats." Link

by all means, aim for the suite but you probably stand more chance going from a deluxe --> tower deluxe :) as casinos' etc are all 'smoking environments', at the worst you'll just have to go downstairs for a smoke

sorry, i'm not a smoker so don't know much about it, let alone your personal circumstances to how much you smoke, but if you can survive a flight to vegas without smoking, i just assumed you could make it through the night without one :)
