We have finally booked!! Total turnaround from what we were looking for at first, going late June now instead of Sept, got 11 nights at the Signature with flights for £852 each so am pleased with that (I think anyway, my head was spinning in the end after looking at a million different options!)

Now on with the fun stuff, deciding where to go and what to eat!! Am trying to get my head round restaurant.com at the moment, has anyone any recs on good places to eat that are on there at the moment please?

Im quite into the idea of purchasing tickets for shows etc in advance this time, the tix tonight thing really did my head in on our last trip, would like to get it all boxed off before we go. I've got to be honest, I havent paid loads of attention to the ticket chat on here, been more preoccupied with sorting out flights etc. Are there any places I should be looking first? (will go back and have a quick look at page 1, just asking while im writing anyway!)

Even the !!!!!! slappers seem a lot less aggressive. They aren't shoving the cards in your face as they were a couple of years ago. A guy hubby works with asked him to take back some and we practically had to ask for them as they weren't even holding them out for you to take.

God I hate those guys - forget shoving the cards in your face, try having them attempting to shove them in your husband's shopping bag...whilst you're walking along holding hands with him...on your honeymoon! Glad to hear they seem to have calmed down a bit, they were definately the worst but of Vegas for me, really put us off walking around certain parts of the strip.

Oh and :rotfl: at the thought of you having to actually ask for the cards - cringe!!

For any of you who like the Earl of Sandwich at PH, there is now one open in London on Ludgate Hill near St Pauls Cathedral.

Guess who had Earl of Sandwich for lunch. :) I'm happy to report that it was pretty much the same as in Vegas...and I was most impressed at their queue management. I wasn't thrilled that their chocolate chip cookies were chocolate chocolate chip cookies (I even passed on buying one, me! Passed up a cookie!) but maybe another time they will have the proper ones. :) Thanks again for the heads-up!

There have been a few occasions where we have been "offered show tickets", but a polite No Thanks and carry on walking and they haven't pushed it.

Us too - we've never had anyone get nasty...I'm surprised that people are having issues. Even the !!!!!! slappers don't bother me...it's not necessarily a noble profession, but at least they're working I guess...I remember when they would thrust cards at my hubby but never me...now they seem to be more equal-opportunity folks. :)

we've seen it - i enjoyed it, but i'm a guy with the spirit of a juvenile (whether that makes a difference) :D

That'll be why my OH wants to see it then, it'll suit him to a tee :rotfl:

I think I'll leave it till we're out there then and see if we can find any offers

I actually don't mind the !!!!!! slappers. I know that they're going to be there and they're not bothered if you just walk by them. There didn't seem to be as many of them as on previous occasions.

Everyone's trip will be different, and I'm certainly not saying it as a reason not to go to Vegas - believe me, I adore this city and would recommend it to anyone. It just got too much for me. Even saying "No thanks" didn't seem to work for some of these people, and at Fremont Street, we were followed down the street being yelled at by someone who didn't take a polite no for an answer which I found a little threatening.

My OH and I tested two different methods though. He spoke in a different language (albeit made up!) and I just stared blankly at people like I didn't understand them if they tried to talk to us at bus stops or wherever. I think my method worked best, seeing as his made up language did sound nonsense!! :rotfl:

we are thinking about booking flights for Vegas 30th dec - 4th January. Is it just too early to book shows? I can't find any websites which will offer any tickets beyond Celine Dion and David Copperfield.

lol. Funniest thing I saw regarding the !!!!!! slappers was up near Frontier (a few years ago now) where one of them had put a couple of huge elastic bands round a lamp post and proceeded to shove hundreds of those saucy cards in them in about 5 mins then leave.
Thirty seconds later, a street cleaner came and removed every single on of them and put them in a black sack and moved on.
About a minute later, the same slapper came back and repeated the process, only for another cleaner to come by and remove them again. The slapper came back, and so on etc. Must have been 4 times in 10 minutes.
On the same night a local news bulliten came on about all the casino managers complaining to the powers that be that all the !!!!!! slappers should be banned and also those old style yellow perspex boxes they used to have with the *ahem* "art" books removed because they made the Strip look seedy.
It got turned down because although they are a nuisance with them, the card slapping business actually creates lots of jobs, so is good for the economy. Apparently they are not allowed to place them or dish them out on the casino premises though, thats why they stand in your way on the kerb.

Many shows will book only 3-4 months out I think.

Be sure to check the links on page 1 for sites that offer discounts booking direct with the box office.
