I have to add my appreciation to this wonderful site. It has opened my eyes to so many wonderful money savings hints and tips. Freecycle has been fabulous as well - my lovely sewing machine, the glass jam jars, the toaster, books, a billobong watch and last but not least my oak table and chairs etc. It has also allowed me to declutter somewhat.
I also got a beautiful sofa and chest of drawers from my brothers.
And finally... the amazing support that has been freely given on 5 Pleasures board. It's been totally invaluable in the good times and the challenging times. so thank you everyone.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Probably things like finding codes for extra boots points, 3 for 2 and discount on top plus cashback meant they paid me for ordering it? Doesn't make sense but I don't mind
Sharing information, so very very important, yes Martin set this site up but the people on it make it special, informative, useful and fab
Vouchers given for some things I did voluntarily, very much appreciated and paid for our Christmas dinnerOne day I might be more organised...........

In 2010 I started making bread by hand and then with a secondhand BM.I also started making jams and chutneys;I'd only ever made lemon curd before. I also batch cook more.
What I found invaluable though, even though I didn't actually save any money was budgeting over the year for various things,ie putting money aside every month to pay for my yearly travelcard and my yearly heating bill. The small amount of money that was put aside each month was hardly noticeable.I also saved for my one holiday away by putting money aside each month. The bonus to this being that I haven't had to find large sums (for me) of cash in a hurry.
Luckily I've had no big bills/spend surprises.
I also allow myself a fixed sum of money each month, which I spread out over the weeks of the month. This has helped change my attitude from simply taking more money out when I run out,to making what money I have last.So more a change in attitude.
This site has been a wonderful source of information and support, thanks to you all!0 -
Another vote for the MSE forums from me. All the bargains I've had were a result of the tips I've picked up on these boards.0
