I don't drink a lot of coke/diet coke, but I can tuck away an alarming number of cups of tea a day - it's not unusual that I get into double figures  The worring thing is that I have noticed sometimes I get splitting headaches and think that this could actually be from lack of caffeine - do any of you guys suffer in the same way? I've had three such headaches Wed - Fri afternoons this week - same time each day which has got me wondering whether I should try to cut down? (also wondering if it is eye strain from the computer but I don't feel any pain/headache around my eyes at all)

wow thats what i call a dedicated tea drinker. Unfortunately i also do this with coffee, and its dawning on me that perhaps ahem I have a bit of a caffeine issue. I don't really like water, but did try low sugar squash and that was ok (but its no diet coke). I work with a bunch of GPs and recently when I had headaches for a prolonged period they suggested I stop the coke altogether, and cut out all caffeine if possible. (I didn't manage that but did go over to low caffeine coffee and caffeine free diet coke) and hate to admit it worked! They know bloody everything...........have a good day its a NSD for me. :j

  • Hi Solventsoon, thanks for your reply the other day; theres so many posts on this thread it got lost........

If you could put me down for 6 on the official list it would be appreciated, I've managed 3 so far this month after days 2 & 3 over the weekend but don't want to run before I can walk.

    Thanks,

It's possibly the opposite, kerri, too much caffeine - there's a lot of caffeine in tea and, if you drink builder's brew, there's more caffeine in that than in coffee...
I'm glad you said that Spoony I was thinking the same but started to doubt myself :rotfl:I bought decaff teabags one day by mistake and it took me a week or so to work out thats what was giving me the headaches :o. I'm a dedicated tea drinker aswel (when I am at home anyway) and have recenty started having one cup of coffee in the afternoon instead. If I drink anything else its fruit juice or squash - dont drink fizzy at all (unless its in alcohol when I am out and that is virutaly never :o)

As for the NSD's......................I got one yesterday yay taking me up to a total of 4 so far not great but I might just make my target this month :p. Quick question. I was given a ate birthday pressie yesterday of some cash. If I used it to buy something today and didnt spend any more could I claim that as NSD or am I clutching at straws :rotfl:

Hope everyone is well - ditto the comments about Cheryl - hope everything is ok x

    Aug GC - £88.17/£130
NSD - target 18 days, so far 5!!
  • Just checking in guys, I've no internet at home at the moment and sky are taking ages to send me a new modem arrghh!

Soooooo I have not managed any more NSD's since last wednesday, a poor show I know :o.

Thurs - Didn't go mad in ikea, I only got a chest of drawers that we did need. But since it was a spend day I bought lunch (boots meal deal).

Fri - Lunch again (boots meal deal), then I bought the times so I could get the book for £2.99.

Saturday - This could have been a NSD but I paid for OH's dry cleaning as he was at work.

Sun - Bought petrol, filled up so I won't need any for 10 days or so and then bought 2 large bars of choc for myself and OH to scoff in front of the TV.

So no wild spending but I guess I need to rein it in a bit, I have all my lunch etc with me today. It is my little brother's birthday and I'm cooking for wed so undoubtedly I will need to get a couple of bits..... I'm going to aim for 3 this week, so that I would have hit half my target mid month.

  • Caffeinne can and does cause headaches. Many years ago I was very ill and couldn't go shopping. Ran out of diet coke and tea. Dr had to be called as I felt so ill. Headache, shakes, sickness... Mate came around and did a bit of shopping for me, gave me a cuppa, hey presto all sorted. That's when I switched to caffeine free. I drink normal tea during the day. Maybe 3 cups max. but then I switch to caffeine free. I feel much better for it.

Yes quite an expensive way too lol

I just started the challange. I buy as many bottles as I allow myself when I do my shopping. I'm not allowed to buy myself any others during the week. It's not very mse to buy them singly. £3 for 3 big bottles in Mr T, but £1 for a small bottle or 60p for a can in the corner shop.

I wonder how many people would sign up to a giving up diet coke or maybe a giving up caffeine thread.

I defo would, its one of my many vices that I need to kick into touch :)

Yep, it's surprising the effect that caffeine and/or caffeine withdrawal can have, Emma, the headaches are horrible:(

Not your money, Emma, it's a pressie, of course you can have an NSD provided you don't spend any of your money:D. There, was that the answer you wanted?:D

Well done on the NSDs as well, you're doing great!!
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)
