Whoo! I just popped into town and managed to get the pj's I was obsessing over :j Hopefully they will fit - although I need a diff top to go with the one they come with as that has thin straps that just fall off my shoulders in bed. Think G*p should have something suitable though. And even better - still looking like a NSD as the £ was from the others I took back :j

Declaring today a NSD as I'm now back home after very kindly allowed to return home early due to the snow which was heavy this morning. Motorways were very snowy and slushy so glad to be back

Not going anywhere else now apart from taking the dog for a walk and crack on with some studying for the afternoon

Yesterday I bought 6 Christmas bag from Mr T's which were a bargain at 25p each! Meant though it wasn't a NSD but at least I don't need any wrapping and bags for this Christmas!

  • :hello: Hellooooooooo. Remember me?

Have had some bad times in the past couple of months family wise (what more? I hear hardened NSDers cry) so took a breather from MSE. NSDs fell by the wayside and xmas was.......well.......it was 25th December really, nothing special.

So far 2011 has started in the same vein, have started my new job which is going well at the moment. The day before my gorgeous pet dobey was six she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. Not sure how much longer she'll be with us :(. I know we had quite a few pets leave us last year, hoping mine won't be another quite yet.

Hope everyone is well but I'm sure I'll soon find out (these NSDers do like a natter).

Oh, and I'd better leave you with a target...........oh........I don't know.........oh why spoil a good thing? 18 again please Spoon.

    Laters......

    Good morning all!

Up early this morning as my skin is killing me ( psoriasis) so I thought a nice cuppa and a blether on here was in order!
Managed to get the DD and overdrawn postion sorted. The bank were brilliant BTW. I emailed $imply Be but got a totally unsatisfactory reply....

As to the catalogue company, have you tried contacting Trading Standards to see if they can offer advice? It's a bit shifty to not have a given date when payment is due--I'm pretty certain it's not legal--& will only change for weekend & Bank Holidays of course. Perhaps Cheryl B]cw[/B could help, as she seems clued up on things..

    Hi all.
I'm new to the NSD Challenge..but it's going ok so far!

Just wanted to ask all those of you, with a few months'-worth of NSD experience.....

Have you noticed how much impact the NSD technique is having on your overall spending? Do you just squash all the spending into fewer days, but end up spending the same amount anyway??? Logic tells me that this must happen, but am hoping the reality is quite different!

If you have any thoughts, let me know, cos I need to keep motivated on this one!

    THANK YOU!
I would call into the shop for milk & come out with 3 bagfuls & twenty quid lighter in my purse. This would happen at least three times a week on top of my 'weekly' shop & didn't include incidentals like gift hunting. Now I try to get as much food shopping as is absolutely necessary on the days I do the other stuff & have found I am at least, not spending so much in the supermarkets.

It does take a while to change the habits you've acquired without realising you have them, but this Challenge is very good at helping with spending if you give it a chance. Good Luck x

    No 4 for me please.

Oh dear, jinty, that's not good:(.... tbh it was the first thing I thought about when you were talking about working 3 days a week this year... are you doing too much again and getting stressed (my skin always flares up if I get stressed).

Can't offer any advice on your skin but can send you a ((((((((((hug))))))))) if that helps.

I emailed $imply Be but got a totally unsatisfactory reply, so I ended up phoning them (on a 0870# if you please:mad:) and giving them a piece of my mind. I would have been better off talking to the wall for all the good it did.:wall: The chap was sympathetic but no apology or reason for why they cannot give youa precise date when payments are to be taken. I like the clothes from this company but their customer services are totally CARP:mad:
Great news re the bank (not something we hear often nowadays) but :mad::mad::mad: to customer services at $!mply Be:(

Anyhoo, we got on ok with the insurance inspector - he agreed that our sofa is beyond repair after the dog chewing it, so he has put us down for total replacement. We just need to wait for the company to get in touch, then we can go looking for a new one:j
Good result for the dog- from zero to hero in a short space of time;)
YAY!!!!!! new sofa and dog out of doghouse.. result:j:j:j

So sorry you're going through a bad time, LfV, you had a fair few problems last year, bad news that 2011 has started out a similar way, hopefully your luck will change soon. Good news about the new job, glad that's going well. Sorry to hear about doglet, it's amazing what the vets can do nowadays though, fingers crossed she'll be with you for some time to come.

    ((((((((((hugs))))))))) and welcome back.

    HI there
In answer to your questions, I find that I do try and have fewer spend days and certainly try and buy everything I need on those days.

I also find that I am now watching everything I do spend on those days so in the long run I will save money.

    Hope this helps:)

Have you meal planned or made a spending plan for the week ahead. I find this really useful

    Good luck with your NSD's

    Hi Jolaaled
    Some great comments above.

I agree with BMF. I used to do exactly the same, pop into a supermarket on the way home from work for a pint of milk, or some veg for tea or any other odd items and come out half an hour later with bags of stuff I'd bought because I'd seen it and which would invariably end up being thrown out:o:o Since I've stopped doing that and started thinking about when I go to the supermarket and making lists I'm spending a heck of a lot less and manging to pay off some of my debts.

Give it time, I was a bit sceptical as well when I first started but once you get yourself into the process of organising your spending I'm sure you'll find it helps.

If you need any motivation, help or advice please just pop in and ask, we're always willing to help.

    Hope that helps a bit.
