Feeling guilty about OH being out of tobacco and not being 'allowed' his £10 a week spends till Saturday, should I give in and give it to him before? He has PTSD and smoking is important to him, but we do need to cut down and I know that if we go to get his baccy he will want coke etc too, I know that if I give in over one thing I will end up giving in over all so not sure what to do ;(
Hi janeawej, that's a tricky one to call, only you can decide really as you know what OH is like and what his dependency is on tobacco. If he really needs it, would he maybe agree to you going to get it just this once to avoid spending on coke as well? Would splitting the "allowance" into 2 x £5 help him any more?

Good luck with this, definitely a tricky situation.

hit the worst point of giving up smoking (& this time i won't use my mum's dramas as an excuse to start again!), so to avoid popping to the shops for cigs or any other rubbish i had a shower & put my pj's on at 4.45pm  felt very lazy, but at least it preserved my NSD :D[/QUOTE]

Giving up smoking calls for drastic measures - well done on your will power! I have been fag-free for 3 years and 7 months ( not that I'm counting;)) after being a dedicated smoker for 30 years. I smoked 30-40 a day:eek:
When I worked out how much I had to earn to keep me in smokes ( including tax & NI), it was the equivalent of working and extra one and a half days a week just to fund my habit. That helped to focus my mind, I can tell you!;)

    janeawej,

I agree, that is a tricky one with OH tobacco. However, if he needs it in view of his PTSD, could you include it in your budget as a planned spend? Maybe buy a pack as part of your weekly shop so that you have it in the house. ( You could hide it till he needs it;))
That way, when he runs out you have it to hand, then you dont have to run out to get it and be tempted by other naughties!
Hope this make sense and helps a bit:)

    Good morning everyone,

Its a rather rainy day here today! No NSD today as I need to go out for some groceries. I also put my weekly savings away today. I am starting my Christmas savings for this year this week. I know that sounds a bit drastic, but saving a little and often, worked for me last year and saved a lot of money worries come December!

I am also doing a couple of Mystery Shop jobs today. I enjoy doing those when they come up, plus its a little pin money for Jinty's book fund!;)

Anyhoo, I'm off to pop a chilli in the SC before I set out for the day,
so I will catch up with you all later.

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

    Good Morning folks.
Number 9 for me yesterday, not sure about today yet.Too early to decide what I'm doing yet.
It's a hard one deciding on tobacco/smoking/not smoking. I stopped 5 years ago and sometimes I still fancy a cigarette. Many a time I've thought "I'll have a ciggie in a minute" and then realised that I don't smoke anymore.Guess it's an ongoing thing.

Yes, a shindig is very much in order. I'll get my kilt and sporran out again for Burns Night. I've just got it back after getting it cleaned after the St Andrews Night stramash. Any excuse for a man in a skirt on this thread;)

    Men in kilts Yay!!!!

I tried to find that picture of this thread's very own men in kilts (the rugby players not the Spandau Ballet ones:eek:) but I'm at work and the pictures are restricted (TBH I'm surprised I can actually get on this forum when at work due to the restrictions)

Can anyone help me by putting them on this thread for all our newbies to enjoy?

Working my way through the last couple of days posts. DH finding things hard at the mo as he keeps opening the back door in the mornings to let the dog out. Teachers at children's schools have been great. DD's art teacher has said he will do a painting of our dog from a picture and DS2s pastor at school talked to DH and him and he drew a picture which the school are going to laminate for us. Couldn't have asked for more.

    C U soon....
