    Hello lovely people.

Back on line here in Brisbane after no power due to the flooding. Thankfully our house is dry & we are safe. We are one of the fortunate ones in the city.

Pleased to report NSD 11 xx

    Hi TWS,
Good to see you again. I was concerned about you, and would have been more so had I realised you were in Brisbane.

Great to hear that you're safe and dry, you defintely are one of the fortunate ones bearing in mind the pictures we've seen here.

    Stay safe, thinking about you.

Feeling guilty about OH being out of tobacco and not being 'allowed' his £10 a week spends till Saturday, should I give in and give it to him before? He has PTSD and smoking is important to him, but we do need to cut down and I know that if we go to get his baccy he will want coke etc too, I know that if I give in over one thing I will end up giving in over all so not sure what to do ;(

Could you go out and buy the baccy for him this week - that way he won't be tempted to want anything else? Also could you perhaps look to buying in bulk if it's cheaper that way (anyone you know going through an airport for Duty Free?) Though if its in the house your OH may be tempted to smoke more?

Jinty - I beat you to it and started saving for Xmas 2011 from my Dec pay packet. For the prev two years I've put a bit by every month and it's certainly been helpful come Dec, this year I didn't and although I managed quite well by making home made gifts and making use of vouchers, I did miss the little saving pot too.

Teenyweeny - glad you are safe and sound - I had no idea you are in Brisbane xx

    Good Morning folks.
Number 9 for me yesterday, not sure about today yet.Too early to decide what I'm doing yet.
It's a hard one deciding on tobacco/smoking/not smoking. I stopped 5 years ago and sometimes I still fancy a cigarette. Many a time I've thought "I'll have a ciggie in a minute" and then realised that I don't smoke anymore.Guess it's an ongoing thing.
    ilovetea xx

I hear ya! That happens to me too - that's partly why I dont drink alcohol any more, cos I know that once I let my guard down I would be back on the slippery slope. Giving up smoking is easily the thing I'm most proud of myself for doing and I dont ever want to go back to it!

Men in kilts Yay!!!! Knew that would cheer you up!;)

Can anyone help me by putting them on this thread for all our newbies to enjoy? Please......someone..........anyone.....

Working my way through the last couple of days posts. DH finding things hard at the mo as he keeps opening the back door in the mornings to let the dog out. Teachers at children's schools have been great. DD's art teacher has said he will do a painting of our dog from a picture and DS2s pastor at school talked to DH and him and he drew a picture which the school are going to laminate for us. Couldn't have asked for more.

That's lovely, people are great sometimes, arent they?

    C U soon....

Just back from MrA, stuck to my list, only to be scuppered by a large display of paperbacks at £1 each:eek: Bought two Philippa Gregorys - been meaning to try her books as they always get good reviews, so at that price how could I refuse?;)

you will always be rich enough to be generous.

NSD number 5 achieved yesterday. Had a bad week for things cropping up:

Monday is our weekly music rehearsal, part the year we pay a show fee, part the year we pay each time we attend a rehearsal and we're in the paying each time we attend this time.
Tuesday I had the dentist and so I paid my tea club money at work then too
Wednesday I had to get OH's thesis bound and pay his examination fee - an expensive day but this is almost the end of a very long road and I can now almost say I'm married to a doctor!

    Thursday - NSD - phew!

Friday - today is food shopping day and I need to get a birthday card for my cousins little boy too, haven't been home to make one recently.

No lunches bought all week though and no vending machine trips so it can't be all bad!

So I'm up to NSD 5 thanks Spoon

Thanks Kerri gt :) , thats really kind of you :)
im originally from the UK, just couldn't give up on this lovely forum when I emigrated a year & half ago. I love the NSD challenge :)

Spoony - ahhh thankyou. We live 15mins walk from the river but luckily the land is a bit higher so we stayed dry. Our friends house partially flooded so he's staying with us at the min.

I definately felt the two extremes (good & bad) of the flooding yesterday at work; Firstly, I met a lovely lady who had lost her house in the flooding but had managed to survive with her hubby by clinging onto some fencing while the water hurtled through.
And secondly; a man who was in police custody for looting somebody elses boat that had broken free from its moorings on the river, the guy had decided to jump into the river when caught and had to be rescued.
  • Not had a chance to check in for the past day or so. No NSD to report as I had to buy something for work which would have been refunded but then I bought a magazine too, though it did have a mascara on the cover which saved me having to buy a new one at the weekend.:rotfl:

Has Cheryl turned up yet? Is everyone ok? Not had a chance to read through yet. Will catch up later, though it won't be a no spend day as it's groceries day today.
