Do you have extensions?
Do you have a lot of noise on the line?
If so try unscrewing the faceplate from your master Bt socket and plug the router into the test socket.
That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Sounds as though the fault is the hub connecting to the exchange, orange hub light on?
Ring BT on 0800 169 0199 for the recorded status in your area. If yor hub does not connect, it comes up with a fault page when you try and connect, run through the help, and the phone number above comes up. Keep going and you end up with another free number if the problem continues
Also, we have had a few disconnects this week in BT0 -

This must be very frustrating when your Internet keeps going off and on. You can request a BT engineer to visit and check your ADSL line/0

If you have a DECT phone, move the base unit and phone as far away from your router as possible, as these can interfere with the broadband signal. If you have one, switch off and disconnect it and then see if the broadband still has the same problem.0

Are you connecting to the hub by ethernet or by wireless? If the latter, try changing the wireless channel on the router, it may be clashing with a neighbour's hub on the same channel. No free lunch, and no free laptop
